Base hit Jose, go to right on the slider. He doesn’t do that anymore.

Two bad pitches cost Javier another win....hitting Arozarena and grooving the pitch Meadows hit for a home run. Abreu never looked comfortable and was all over the place.
When you hit guys, it often comes back to bite you and it did today.
I was screaming for Dusty to send Castro up for Maldonado when the idiot bunted with two out and two on base. Then, Castro showed Dusty up for never playing him with the 9th inning double. If Castro doesn't get a start in NY, he must have drank Dusty's last bottle of Mad Dog 2020. Continuing to play Maldonado game after game when he is an automatic out and Castro is hitting just proves that Dusty is NOT a good manager. It would be different if Castro was not good defensively, but, that is not the case. Tying up $5 million in Maldonado for 2022 was not a very good move.
Altuve had two good at bats with the Sac Fly and the one in the 9th even though he made an out.......Bregman, Gurriel, and Correa all three sucked in every at bat. Bright spots were good days from Tucker and Straw. We did win the series so we can't be too unhappy. I just hate to see us keep blowing chances to sweep a series. We could have swept the Angels and Mariners at home if not for half-assed lineups Dusty put on the field in the last game of each series.

He doesn’t do that anymore. If he would only go back to his roots. He shows no inclination to do that. He would be a much better hitter if he did. That is one reason I question his intelligence.

I wish just one reporter had the balls to ask Dusty in the post-game interview why he keeps Castro on the bench and plays Maldonado nearly every game.

Right. A right-handed hitter should try to take that pitch to right. Castro showed what a lefty should do with it. Altuve isn't the only guy who doesn't like to hit to right field. Bregman is bad about it. Yuli and Carlos will at times, as will Straw.

I am sure they know the type of reception they will get at Yankee Stadium. The classless fans there may have things with them to throw on the field. I don't think the boos will bother them, but, throwing things should not be tolerated.

thirteen games without a day off I think everyone's thinkin bout tomorrow That is a long stretch, they just flashed the Yankee series on the board, calling for rain Wednesday, and a cool day for Thursday. It will be interesting to see how they are going to do against Cole. hopefully he'll have trouble locating his four-seamer when we're down two strikes in the count

That should take some of the sting out of the day. This series would have been something if it was played last season. Now you are looking at a stadium that will be filled 20 per cent, and most of the crowd in the cheap seats, if you want to call them cheap in NY. It looks like Hinch didn't take much flack from the fans in the last series. I just checked the weather for Wednesday is for mostly thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon. You wonder if there would be a possibility of a rainout on Wednesday, would they make Thursday a DH. Cole would be tough to beat in a short game.

When Jose changed is off season work outs back in Venezuela pulling those over sized tractor tires and most likely building upper body strength changed his approach at being a power hitter.

The talk about moving the mound back one more foot could be the clincher of stupid moves. that is the worst of them all. The starting each extra inning with a runner on second base is ridiculous as well as seven inning games in a DH. In fact I don't like any of the rule changes Manfred has made. I don't think a catcher should be limited on trips to talk to the pitcher nor do I think a reliever should be forced to pitch to three hitters. All of these rule changes were unnecessary and have had a detrimental effect on the game.

Yankee fans had to wait a whole year to give us the earful, and I'd laugh if they had to yell at the weather to get their chance. Or wait some more until Thursday for a ballgame

Dusty now thinks he needs to give Castro the next 8 games off. Castro should start in NY, with the wind tunnel to right and right center. at least pinch-hit with his recent Denny Walling impression

As much as we clown Correa for his contract demands, he and Brantley are basically the only ones who can hit the ball to all fields.

No one except Bregman was there on the left side so he dribbled base hits in that direction. It’s like in football: when the defense provides an easy path, you take advantage.

The Rays may have won anyway, but, our shift was a big boost to them. For the record, I hate the shift.
