Are we surprised the Astros bullpen lost the lead? Why would we? It's become a regular occurrence. I hate the scoring rules where Stanek blows the lead costing Urquidy the win. Then, we score two in the 9th and Stanek, the only ineffective guy we sent out there, gets the win. Other than the three home runs, Urquidy was fantastic. Stanek comes in and give up a home run, blows the save, and gets the win. It's an injustice. I'm just glad the team got the win.

Bregman needs to stop letting Altuve get all the power shots. Have some friendly competition. He is doing a good job in leading the team in hitting popups. He did make a fantastic play to get Sano in the 8th.

The bottom of the order really came through in the 9th. Straw leads off with a single and scores on Maldy's double. Jose did a good job of getting Maldy to third so he could score on Michael's 4th hit of the game. We had clutch hits when we needed them.
Correa was horrible at the plate but made a great play to rob Cruz of a hit. The plays he and Bregman made kept Stanek from getting us behind going to the 9th. We desperately need a dependable set up man.

Not a great win but solid overall. This had the makings of a trap game but they fought through it with some great defense and timely enough hitting.

Urquidy gave up the home runs all were solo. He was great other than those. The great defense and clutch hits won it.

I’m glad they thwarted Stanek’s attempts to give the bullpen another L.

God do we need an 8th inning guy. This team has a chance to be pretty damn good. The problem is who gets you to the 9th in those close games

I’m glad they thwarted Stanek’s attempts to give the bullpen another L. If not for those great plays made by Correa and Bregman, we would have gone to the 9th behind. Stanek was terrible but will get the win. I feel good about the next two with Garcia and Framber starting them.

Uncle Drayton took that one personally. Yes, The old fool got pissed because Wagner spoke out about Drayton not letting them get any help at the trade deadline. Every time I heard Drayton spew that "Make us a champion" BS I wanted to vomit.

Uncle Drayton took that one personally. He pinched pennies when his team was on the cusp of a title. He saved Billy's $9M to pay Pettitte, and didn't pick up Kent's option 12 months later so he could pay Roger. I don't think anyone would argue the 2005 team wouldn't have won it all if it'd had Kent and Wagner in the fold

As for Kent, he was neglected by Drayton because he wanted to go for broke on Beltrán, which ended up being fruitless. Kent couldn’t wait forever and signed elsewhere. I think he went to the Dodgers.

Drayton's penny pinching probably cost us a title in 2005. There was no way he was going to outbid a NY team for Beltran.

His decisions also led to the club losing one of the best GMs in MLB at that time Yes, he forced Hunsicker out because Gerry got sick of his meddling and refusing to let him sign players we needed. Then, he replaced Hunsicker with the Pillsbury Doughboy, Tim Purpura, who was a standing joke.

Luhnow or Hunsicker, the Astros best GM ever?
I am a big fan of both...Luhnow did bring the Astros a championship... Hunsicker took the Astros to the World Series, and he had Drayton as his owner, which is a feat in itself.

All GM's make questionable moves like Luhnow trading for Fiers and Gomez. He also got Yordan for Josh Fields. Luhnow and Hunsicker were the top two GM's the Astros ever had. Click has yet to show he is close to being as good as either of them.

In 3 more years, then maybe we can determine if he should be part of the discussion. He can start with pulling off a trade for two relievers by the trade deadline.

I am not for dealing any top prospects like a Korey Lee, Pedro Leon, Jose Siri, or those guys.
