So, what did Robel do to warrant a second chance? Mercy. Dusty does it just to spite Mongo. He does it because he is a damn fool.

Yordan has been garbage recently with RISP. Some others have been garbage full time.

I was told it was no big deal that we traded Toro.

One thing we should have learned about Graveman......DON'T pitch him against the Mariners. He sucks against them and is nails against everyone else.

Me too. But not for Lindor money. We won't give him Lindor money and we shouldn't. Somebody probably will, though. My one hope is the CBA stuff slows the spending down and maybe he's more willing to drop his price then.

Graveman coughed it up but our offense flat out sucked ass.
But, no need to worry......we have Odorizzi going tomorrow.

So, the hitting coaches are at fault with Toro, but there’s no explanation with Graveman struggling as an Astro?

So, the hitting coaches are at fault with Toro, but there’s no explanation with Graveman struggling as an Astro? He struggled tonight and didn't do well the other time against the Mariners. He has been dominant in his other games. You want to find dirt on Strom so bad that you will scrape the bottom of the barrel. LOl There is a list of hitters who have done extremely well after getting away from Centron and Snitker. There is also a list of pitchers who have improved after coming to Houston and being under Strom.

Graveman is a closer. Dusty keeps bringing him in for the eighth, an inning before he's ready.

I sincerely hope this is sarcasm. I’m sure it is sarcasm, but it makes as much sense as the excuse that used to be given when Giles would come in with a lead of 4 runs or more and implode. “Giles is excellent in save situations. He is not good in non-save situations. We were ahead by 4 (or more) runs. Hinch should never have brought him in.” Are you telling me that a guy who is excellent at protecting a 3 run lead for one inning should not be trusted to protect a lead of 4 runs or more because it is a non-save situation? Bull dung!

Oh, and since we're having fun with the 'blame game', let's try another one. We should blame this on Click trading for Graveman in the first place. He was already good so the Strom-father had nothing to fix and Graveman could only get worse. He should have traded for another mediocre relief pitcher like Phil Maton so Strom could fix him. Maton's ERA was 4.54 this season until he became an Astro. Under Strom's tutelage, Phil's ERA as an Astro is 5.40

I have always believed that if a pitching staff holds the opponent to 3 runs or less, the pitchers have done their job and you should win. At the same time the offense should be able to produce 4 runs or more. If you score 4 runs or more, the offense has done its job.
When you lose 4-0 neither the pitching nor the offense did their job.

That's pretty close to the way I view it. I see 4 runs as the tipping point. If a starter gives you 6 innings and gives up 3 runs, that's a quality start. Enough to give your team a reasonable chance of winning the game. For the remaining 3 innings, on average the bullpen can give up 1 run. That averages out to an ERA of 3.0 for your relievers. If your offense gets you 4 runs, that enough to give your team a reasonable chance of winning the game. If all those things happen, you go to extras in a 4-4 tie. EDIT:In my view, the pitching only did enough to give the team a reasonable chance of winning. In your view they failed ... slightly. But I think we can both agree that the offense only scoring zero runs was a massive failure.

Graveman is a closer. Dusty keeps bringing him in for the eighth, an inning before he's ready. in a post-game interview, Graveman made no excuses. His two bad outings......of which this one was the worst......are partly due to the Mariner hitters knowing him so well. I don't think it being the 8th inning had anything to do with it. He has done the job in the 8th in games other than the two against the Mariners.

You mentioned Correa, who had a double and a single last night and has hit .300 for the month. I see you failed to mention the "MVP" when passing out the blame. But, you have already given him the excuse of a possible injury on another topic. You stated that Jose had no home runs and drove in 3 runs in August and that is correct. The elite SS that you told to "GTFO" had 4 home runs and drove in 11 runs during the same period. The ENTIRE offense was to blame for last night's loss. Graveman had the terrible 8th when the Mariners won the game, but, that doesn't excuse the pitiful job of the hitters.

I don't think it being the 8th inning had anything to do with it. So you don't KNOW the eighth inning had nothing to do with it? I thought the forum expert on sarcasm would have have immediately recognized my eighth inning remark was pure sarcasm. His two bad outings......of which this one was the worst......are partly due to the Mariner hitters knowing him so well. Interesting ... Apparently Toro knows the way Strom teaches the Astros to pitch. He sure stung Graveman who has only benefited from Strom for a very short time. Next time we face Seattle and Toro is in the lineup, just hold up four and let him take first. Even if that means intentionally walking in a run. That guy can HURT us!

Since reading is fundamental, I suggest you learn to interpret the actual meaning of what you see instead of applying your own strange definition to it.
