There's no telling at this point with everything this team will be up against on the road, the questions with the rotation, and new manager/GM, how well this team will perform, but it should certainly be some very interesting games to watch.

All kidding aside, Crane had to go with a guy that had at least a track record in the league to handle what Saint mentioned this team is going to endure this upcoming season.

What if they rehire Hinch in a year?

What if they rehire Hinch in a year? I hope Baker is up to the task after three 100 plus win seasons, cheating or whatever.

What if they rehire Hinch in a year? I expect the Mets to try to hire Hinch. Personally, I don't want him and his clipboard back. My only problem with Baker is my fear that he will destroy our pitching staff and half of them will be on the IL at the same time,

Crane may have another guy in mind after this year. I also have to wonder if he may be leaning toward bringing Hinch back.....I hope that doesn't happen,. I would like to see Luhnow back but I'd pass on Hinch.

I watched the news conference with Crane and Baker and heard some of the most asinine questions asked.........One moron asked Dusty if he was concerned that he was ONE of only two black manager in the major leagues......What the hell did that have to do with what Baker needs to do as Astros manager? The media just has to bring race into everything. Overall, I thought Baker handled the questions in the right way and gave honest answers. A few of the questions were things he could not possibly know before starting to work. There always has to be some idiots asking some of the questions.

I am rooting for him....It would be great for his career to be the Astros salvation....

It would cap his career and probably seal him as a HoF candidate (if he wasn't already), and it would be redemption for us.

If we are to make another WS run, we need McCullers to stay healthy and for either Urquidy, Whitley, or both to step into the rotation. I would like to see them leave Peacock in the pen. I also think inviting McHugh to ST isn't a bad idea. Andrew Cashner is another gjy worth a look. I would even like to see them sign Hunter Pence to a minor league deal and see what happens.

They need to either delay McCullers’s return if they’re serious about him being in the rotation or make him a reliever.

It looks like Pence is probably headed back to the Giants. What would we use him for?

We don't know how Straw will pan out and we may need another outfielder or as a DH if Yordan can cut it as a defender. Pence put up 18 home runs and drove in 59 runs in 286 at bats while hitting .297. That is worth inviting him to ST or giving him a minor league contract. If the Giants offer him a major league deal, no doubt he takes it.
