Jake Marisnick hasn’t played much at all for the New York Mets in 2020. Meanwhile, one of the pieces traded for him, Blake Taylor, is shining in the Houston Astros bullpen. risingapple.com/2020/08/23/mets-jake-marisnick-blake-taylor-trade/Blake Taylor has logged 13 innings out of the pen for the Astros this year and so far, not too shabby. He was a second-round draft pick for the Pirates in 2013. He arrived with a full clock, so he'll be at minimum wage for a few years. www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=taylobl01&t=p&year=2020Plus there's the 20 y/o Venezuelan kid, Kenedy Corona who's too early to judge. He may or may not be a good enough outfielder when he matures. Meanwhile, Marisnick logged 12 innings in the Mets' outfield, made a grand total of 1 putout and 0 assists, and had 1 single in 4 ABs before pulling a Hammy.

Yeah that trade has already proven a winner regardless of what happens going forward.

That trade looks to have worked out well but that last deal with the Mets looks like a loser. We need to remember to not trade/release guys whose first two initials are JD

I realize that this topic was opened to push my buttons so I have let it ride. We still have baseball dummies who refuse to admit that Jake Marisnick is one of the premier defensive outfielders in the game. He has never beewn a good hitter and I have never claimed he was. He has good power when he connects. Myles Straw is replacing him as the 4th outfielder, but, his defemse is inferior compared to Jake. He is beginning to show he can hit a little. He needs to perfect the bunt so he can utilize his speed.
WE made a great trade with the Mets by getting Blake Taylor for Marisnick, who was going to cost us too much. We have NO outfielder on our roster who is Jake's equal defensively.ALL are better offensively.
Sorry I didn't get pissed off and take the bait left by the Dumbass of the North. LOL LOL LOL

And generally has gotten on base at a very good clip. He had a slow start this year but his OBP is up to .500 over the last two weeks.

I am just pointing out that currently he is not Jake's equal defensively. I think he will be a good centerfielder. He showed some signs of getting it together at the plate during the road trip and he had a good swing last night He has more power than you would think. If he gets a solid OBP, he should be our leadoff hitter. I have always preferred a leadoff hitter to have great speed and he has it. He needs some help getting a decent lead once he is on base.

Sorry I didn't get pissed off and take the bait So you say ... Jake Marisnick is one of the premier defensive outfielders in the game. Yeah, that's why his salary through arbitration is so terribly high in his final year of team control. Oh wait ... he's making less than $3.5 million? WE made a great trade with the Mets by getting Blake Taylor for Marisnick, who was going to cost us too much. Indeed. Roster spots are precious. Wasting one on Marisnick would have cost a spot.

Thanks for proving you don't know shit about how to rate a player and that you are still an asshole who only shows up to stir the pot. I knew why you started the thread and that it was aimed at me when I read it. Idiots like you don't have what it takes to really piss me off.

don't have what it takes to really piss me off. Deny all you want but you have a tell. When you're pissed off, you resort to ad-hominem remarks. What's entertaining about this, is that you think anything posted about Marisnick is targeting you. I realize that this topic was opened to push my buttons I knew why you started the thread and that it was aimed at me when I read it. The reason for this thread is clearly in the OriginalPost and in the thread title. The Astros won this trade, hands-down. They now have an extremely useful reliever with years of team control. The Mets got virtually nothing out of Marisnick. Their fans are livid about this blunder. Meanwhile, Astros fans are elated about this. Go Astros!

That trade looks to have worked out well but that last deal with the Mets looks like a loser. We need to remember to not trade/release guys whose first two initials are JD JD Martinez was a blessing for the Tigers. Definitely my favorite player on the team during his tenure with us. Great hitter, great person. I'll always have respect for him, no matter what uniform he's wearing.

Sorry you failed at your mission.

If Magglio had stayed healthy in 2004-2005, he would have garnered some solid and deserved HoF consideration. Kind of a slightly-lesser Bagwell-esque production.

He was a freak back when he protected Big Hurt in that lineup.
