I found this on social media. I think this fan speaks for a lot of Astros fans after they chose to refuse to play the game with the A's last Friday. I wish I could watch Crane read this letter.

My letter to Astros owner Jim Crane
RAYMOND DESADIER·TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2020
Mr. Crane,
My Mom attended a game at the Astrodome the night before I was born. The next day at the hospital, Dad was faithfully keeping up with the game. I was literally born an Astros fan.
The first seven years of my life when my family had season tickets forged wonderful memories. I remember the fear I felt when Dickie Thon was beaned in the eye and carried off in a stretcher. I remember the joy I felt when Mike Scott sealed the NL West with a no-hitter. I witnessed my all-time favorite player throw his 5th no-hitter and record his 4,000thstrikeout and named my youngest son Nolan in his honor.
I was blessed to see the Dome lights turned out after its final regular season game in which a third consecutive NL Central title was claimed. I bawled when the Home Run Spectacular played one last time, then cried again when I witnessed it’s return in the new stadium the following year.
The legacy continued with Craig Biggio’s hustle, Billy Wagner throwing 100 mph bullets after trotting in to Enter Sandman, and Lance Berkman making his home state proud. Not only did I witness Jeff Bagwell’s power unleashed from an unconventional crouch, I also took Dad to Cooperstown to see his inauguration in person. My home office is decorated with mementos I have saved from 40-plus years of attending games, Fan Fests, Spring Trainings, and more.
I suffered through those 100-loss seasons, hopeful for the future Jose Altuve and George Springer would bring. So confident in fact, I purchased a mini-season ticket package in 2017, one of the best investments I have ever made. The joy which had eluded me all my years as a longsuffering Astros fan finally came to fruition as I attended the AL West clincher, the ALCS Game 1 victory over the Yankees, and both World Series home victories on the path to a long awaited championship.
I attended the 2018 home opener so I could see that coveted championship banner presented. My mini-season plan was gladly renewed for the next two seasons to experience absolute dominance on the mound and at the plate, two additional division championships, and another AL pennant. When I came to see the inaugural Astros Hall of Fame class last year, I got the bonus of a four-pitcher no-hitter.
All that was missing from my Astros resume was witnessing a World Series deciding game in person, so I purchased tickets for games 6 and 7. I was devastated as the Nationals pulled off the upset that still today seems orchestrated, especially considering the 2019 World Champions banner was not prepared for unfurling on the light standard. Little did I know that night, things were only going to get worse.
When you compelled my hero Nolan Ryan to walk away, I let it slide. When his son Reid, one the most accomplished executives in the industry was demoted without cause, I took it in stride.
After news of sign-stealing cast a dark cloud over my team, I defended them knowing they were guilty of a league-wide epidemic, trusting it was only a matter of time before this was revealed. I overlooked the greatest manager in club history unfairly taking the fall while you stood idly by watching the league make Houston’s team the scapegoat.
As if the 2020 season was not grim enough between the cheating scandal and pandemic, your team had to add insult to injury by participating in the Marxist BLM, Inc. agenda by kneeling on Opening Day, and pandering to their cause by stamping their divisive slogan on t-shirts and the back of the pitcher’s mound. “At least they didn’t kneel during the anthem”, I told myself, trying my hardest to find positivity.
I have forgiven a lot, but when the team sat out a game to promote the false narrative that the arrest-resisting rapist Jacob Blake is a victim of a hate crime, that was the last straw. I cannot be more disappointed in what you and your staff have done to Houston’s storied franchise.
Life is hard and full of tragedy. Sports is an outlet to get away from these pains. In a nation that is being cast asunder more each day, we needed you to be there to remind us what we have in common. We needed the Astros to distract us from the chaos. But you and the players failed. All you did was pour fuel on the fires of division.
You and the organization have made it crystal clear who “matters” to you, and sadly I do not. Therefore, you no longer matter to me either. Like many other disenfranchised fans, I have turned the Astros off.
You have lost a lifelong Astros fan.

Cancelled all my pro sports subscriptions, chunked all my paraphernalia, unsubscribed from all sports notifications. Wrote a similar letter to the Astros, too. I blocked any reply, but I doubt they replied or even care (at all). I have no idea what the Astros record is, who they're playing, the standings, etc. They chose their side and it isn't mine. I'm not throwing a fit, I'm not angry, I don't intend to try to sway anyone toward my opinion. I am resolved to stand for what I think is right no matter the consequences; one of the consequences is parting ways with the Astros and professional sports. What they stand for and support is not compatible with my beliefs and they will not receive my financial support. Amazon and other businesses can KMA as well. There is a concerted effort afoot by powerful people to take this nation down; the seeds of that were sown a long time ago and bit by bit they've pushed us toward Marxism/socialism/communism. Now they're openly revealing their goals. Members of my family lived through the Nazi years and some died taking down Hitler. If you cannot see the parallels between then and now or don't believe it can happen here then you are blind. |

The only "letter" that Crane or other owners will understand is when it hits them in the profit-loss column. Don't buy tickets or merchandise. Don't patronize sponsors. I don't think not watching them on TV has any effect on them whatsoever.

My opinion exactly, except that I have been a Colt .45 and Astros fan sine the franchise existed in 1962. I remember listening to the first game against the Cubs on radio......Gene Elston, Loel Passe, and a guy named Al whose last name I forget. He wasn't with them long. Bobby Shantz was the winning pitcher in a 6-2 win and Roman Mejias hit a home run. They played in that humid, mosquito den called Colt Stadium which became part of the Astrodome parking lot. I will not buy any Astros merchandise, but, I admit to still watching games on TV because I love the game and can't see baseball anywhere else. I wrote the NBA off years ago and did the same with the NFL as soon as those disrespectful assholes were allowed to kneel during the anthem. Now, we are seeing a bunch of Marxist domestic terrorists like BLM bein catered to by MLB and the owners. Our manager is allowed to wear a BLM shirt on camera.. If this crap continues, pro sports will be dead......killed by gutless owners who don't have the balls to stand up to a bunch of racist thugs. |

Not watching them is the best thing you can do if you claim to be as upset as y’all claim.
If the ratings get low enough, everything else will fall into place. Sponsors won’t want to pay to advertise their product when no one is watching.

To some people it may seem childish, but I don't care. I realize the Astros and the major sports don't give a rip if I tune out and turn off. It's not about punishing the Astros or anyone else. The fact is that they are supporting an effort that is directly contradictory to the security of this nation. Their actions throw fuel on the fire of the contrived divisions between different groups of people. This isn't about black lives, or brown lives; it's about white lives. It's about marginalizing and replacing the dominant ethnic group. Notice I didn't say race; there is only one race, the human race. Their nefarious plans must include getting rid of God (kicked out of schools in 1962), devaluing human life (abortion, 1973), changing the culture by by bringing in foreigners (the nearly 30k Muslims transplanted to Michigan under Obama), etc. Incrementally they're trimming limbs from the tree of America. It won't be long before they pull out the saw and go to work on the trunk. Martin Niemoller was a Lutheran pastor in Germany at the onset of the 3rd Reich. He wound up spending 7 years in a concentration camp due to his opposition to Hitler. Here is what he said:

If enough people tune out and turn off, sports will for sure start to care because they will lose a huge source of their revenue from sponsorship.
There's a reason why a 30 second commercial cost $5 million during the Super Bowl, but only $500,000 during the World Series.
