People act like this is new information.
A. He has turned down multiple attempts at working out extensions in the past.
B. He has said he would like to play in the NE where his family is.
C. His wife allegedly doesn't want to stay in Houston.
There's a reason why he hasn't already been extended the way Bregman and Altuve were. Somebody in the NL East or White Sox will pay him $30 mil a year and he'll be gone. Our best hope is to offer Brantley a QO or another 2-year deal, and then go after somebody like Puig, Pederson or a reclamation project like Bruce or Pillar.

Click's only prior experience was Tampa Bay - an organization not known for giving $80M deals to veterans over 33 It's going to be interesting to see what Brantley would agree to if he wants to work out a deal to stay in Houston for the short-term

Brantley and JBJ would hurt them offensively but strengthen them defensively and takes more pressure off corner outfielders.

With a third year team option

If Springer leaves Houston, I am sure some idiot or idiots on the board will scream bloody murder. I will always have positive thoughts when it comes to George. He gave us everything he had every game and he was a great teammate. It is hard to find a professional player that the kids can idolize. George is that player.

He's one of my favorite Astros, but the minute he dons another team's uniform, he can ESAD.

Springer was probably my favorite Astro of this group, but he was also the most frustrating up and down rollercoaster of a hitter too.

Thank you George for the years you played here I wanted him to stay so badly I thought we had a shot. He may have left even if the scandal never took place. He grew up a Red Sox fan and I think he will end up there. We need to concentrate on Brantley, if we have a chance at him.

He was my favorite player in this group partly because of how he treated kids and how good he was to them. I also admired him for trying to overcome his stuttering. Plus, he was one hell of an outfielder and hitter I will be sorry to see him go.

Springer has been a great player for the Astros. I hope he is equally as successful somewhere else.
Edit: But I hope he has to deal with as much cr*p on the road from fans as the Astros do next year. He shouldn't get to just excuse himself from the situation.

With a third year team option either way offering Brantley a QO is win-win, like it would've been with Morton. It's still a headscratcher why Luhnow didn't do that

He shouldn't get to just excuse himself from the situation. He won’t because fans are a bunch of flaming hypocrites. Had the Yankees or Red Sox been investigated like the Astros, the sports world would’ve forgiven them a couple months afterwards.

I'm not saying I didn't like Springer he was a good player. I just think this is his last shot at money and he could go closer to home where he wants to be. So its all good. QO and have a good career.
But the other objective is probubly not gonna happen either which is Brantley.
I believe he is gone aswell. Just heard he may wanna try for a WS again but maybe on a NL team

Just heard he may wanna try for a WS again but maybe on a NL team Brantley needs to stay in the AL. I just don't know what's the better move Astros sign him or Ozuna... We're losing a lot of power with Springer leaving, so I'm wondering if Ozuna is the better pickup... Is Adam Eaton going to be a FA? Somewhere I thought I read that Nationals are not going to pick up his option.
