Why can’t we win in Anaheim anymore? I knew this one was over as soon as Smith came into the game. Too bad he didn't opt out this season. We gave the Angels a chance in the inning we loaded the bases with Bregman and Yordan coming up. Bregman stood there and took strike three and struck out on three pitches and then Yordan grounded out. We had a great chance to blow it open and didn't. I also question pulling Stanek after only two batters to bring in Raley. We need our starters to go over four innings.

We’re often in these “need a double play” situations and rarely get them.

He’s the only one who can throw strikes out of the bullpen. I doubt they're sure yet either. He was a pretty big wild card coming into this year which is why he was so cheap. He was way way better as an opener than he was as a reliever.

He’s the only one who can throw strikes out of the bullpen. He would be the ideal setup man in the 8th. But, since Dusty brought him in to get Garcia out of the 4th, I don't understand pulling him after getting the two outs to get out of the inning. He could have gone Garcia-Stanek-Abreu-Taylor-Pressley. It was OK to use Stanek to get him out of the 4th but he should have gone back to pitch the 5th. The way I see it, Smith is a clone of Will Harris, only a sidearm version. He will have a couple of good games, get you to having confidence in him, and, then costing you a game by going in the tank. I was hoping when he opted out last year that we had seen the last of him.
