From a circumstantial standpoint, he should certainly be looked at. His spin rate greatly increased last year (in a contract year), and he reached rates/production that he had never gotten close to approaching outside of 2018. A guy that had only seen an ERA under 4.00 once in his previous 8 seasons, suddenly had a 1.73 ERA and the highest K rate of his career. Enjoy it, Bauer!

MLB has been allowing it under the table forever, so pitchers all throughout the league are using stuff like this. I'm not laughing because Cole got singled out, but his response is horrible. You would think his agent or lawyer would have prepped some good-sounding response. |

Cole looked pretty good in his start last night. I don't know what his spin rate was, but he struck out 9 batters and only gave up 2 ER.
