Irvin vs. Javier
5-1
Oakland is going to be motivated for some payback. Hopefully being back with the home crowd will get them off to a good early lead.

I am excited to see the team play at home! Who is usually first with the lineups? I want to see if Brantley's back.

I am also glad to see Castro in the lineup and Maldonado getting a day off. This is almost my preferred lineup. Correa's still here instead of Bryant. Gurriel and Tucker swap positions in the order and Straw hasn't been replaced by McCormick, yet. But Straw has to start contributing offensively and not run over Altuve in the field if he wants to stick around. Otherwise, he becomes the dreaded defensive replacement for late game leads only.
ps Exercising Gurriel's option for 2022 is a no brainer unless he falls apart this season. $8M is a bargain these days. Prefered is a new contract with additional options. I'm ready for double digit offense and shutout defense.

I think Straw has to fall apart to be replaced in the lineup by McCormick. I think we end up getting a good season from Correa since he is playing for a big contract. The outfielder has the right of way on balls hit between them and the infield. Straw should have called Altuve off and Jose should have gotten out of the way. We don't know if Straw called him off or not. I do know that Altuve seems to think any ball he can touch is his and sometimes makes the mistake of wanting to take pop ups that other players should get.

Can they stop playing Altuve so deep in the shift? If he has a chance at a grounder in those situations, it’s a 50/50 chance that he gets the out.

If there is any good sign for the offense at the start of the season, they are stinging the ball.

Safe to say that CC woke up. The homer to right field was a good sign for CC that he is locking in.
