Piss poor AB by Gurriel and horrible slide by Springer = waste of an inning where the pitcher was pretty darn hittable

Two hits and a walk in the 9th inning and still can't score

“If you wanna be The Man, you’ve gotta beat The Man.” -Ric Fliehr So far this season, which great teams have the Astros beaten? I don't care as long as they beat them in the postseason. Gotta get there first.

Even Carlos Gomez shook his head at that baserunning by Springer. It reeks of desperation when you know the RF has a cannon, and you still take that chance.

There is a big difference in aggressive and stupid........apppaently, Springer doesn't know that. I am also wondering why Hinch had Fisher and Reddick both in the lineup against a lefty. Fisher was awful. Just another pathetic performance offenwively. We keep getting great starting pitching and waasting it.

The offense leaves these brilliant SP’s out there thinking they have to pitch shutouts to get wins, and sometimes that’s not even enough. You’ve got to get support for these pitchers before those evil thoughts of “What is the point?” start creeping in subconsciously. This issue on offense is getting out of hand.

Heaney is not a guy who should dominate the way he did. We had terrible swings Fisher had no clue.....Yuli is really going bad right now. Reddick had one good AB and then was clueless. I am sick of hearing these guys act like this is no big deal..

I thought Yuli was rushed back into action after the hand surgery, personally.

The way the Astros have lost so many 1-run games, even increasing team OPS by 10 points would be enough to win a few more games. White and Davis would add that punch, and that is without having to make a trade. Make a trade and Hinch can probably increase team OPS by 30 points.

I keep saying, there are only 4 runners who should be trusted to be aggressive on the bases: Marisnick, Fisher, Correa, Altuve. Bregman is borderline.
Years of stats show that a runner needs to be able to sprint 27.8 ft/sec minimum to steal base successfully enough of the time for it to outweigh the damage done by the times he is thrown out. Springer doesn't meet that cutoff. Only the 4 guys I mentioned. (Bregman has sometimes been clocked above 27.8 ft/sec and sometimes below).
Reddick, Yuli, Stassi... none of those guys have any business trying to steal base except in some very rare circumstance.

I thought our team runs scored was actually pretty high in the league. Where do we rank?
It feels like it's more that we're so feast or famine. No consistent.

The Astros came into this game scoring 4.81 runs/game, which is 9th place in MLB. Their WRC+ of 106 was 8th best, but still not very high in my opinion.
I really think that with Kemp for Marisnick and White for Gattis, the Astros could be the 5th best offense in MLB instead of 8th/9th. It's not only the added offense that White and Kemp would add themselves; there is the reverberation effect of their hits and walks on surrounding batters in the lineup.

Positives from this game:
a) Altuve broke his hitless streak b) Team ERA continued to decrease c) Smith showed he can pitch a clean inning d) Peacock slider looking good e) McCullers showed he can avoid walking people. For 5 innings anyway. f) Stassi and Gattis showed big boys can hit

Those changes may yield a positive, but Altuve not hitting's the reason we're not scoring runs. If he could just get it going I think we'll start seeing 4 runs each night instead of averaging 4 runs per night

These guys get paid a lot of money to play a game. You are supposed to play it with passion, not try to look pretty or cool. Screw that these guys are phoning it in. Hinch needs to call a few of these guys on the carpet. Time for a demotion to get some guys attention. I don't think Fisher was phoning it in. I think it was just a poor throw. They've won 5 of their last 6. They're doing fine. As I said you are being generous. You leave it out there on the field. If you are not playing at 100% then stay home.

The fact that Fisher and Reddick were both in the lineup proves that Jake is on thin ice

Piss poor AB by Gurriel and horrible slide by Springer = waste of an inning where the pitcher was pretty darn hittable The ball beat Springer what else would you want him to do, the swim slide didn't work. Got to give props to Calhoun, that was a hell of a throw on the money from the right field corner.

I am playing Monday morning quarterback, and with Jake getting ripped around here with an offense that is not clicking. But how Fish played that single off Upton's bat with a catcher running from second. I know with two outs a the runner gets the jump, but I say Jake's chances of cutting down Mondonado were greater.
That throw he made at the stadium last season cutting down Elsbury with two outs would be a good indicator.

When Jose is going bad, he does his patent roll over to third on the outside pitch. Seems like he is doing it a lot of that lately.
