Tied for the best record in the AL and 4.5 games up on the A's. Things are rolling pretty well despite no Bregman, and a questionable bullpen.
We need to take into consideration how good we are despite not being at full strength when we start talking about giving away players at the trade deadline. Obviously we can improve, but our window of success is larger than we thought with the success of our young pitchers, Tucker, and Yordan. Let's not blow that up for overpriced veteran rentals.

Yeesh, that's a lot of potential strikeouts. I predict at least six K's from 7, 8, and 9 combined with the potential for a couple more. I am not as concerned with Toro's bat as I am him butchering first base. |

With his history of leg problems, first base seems like a more logical position than LF. Yuli needs a day off. I just wish we had some who would be better at stepping in there than Toro. We had Taylor Jones who could play there but we shipped him back to Sugar Land to bring back Stubbs to keep riding the pine. We needed Jones worse than we needed Stubbs, who never plays when he's here. |

Again, we have no way of knowing how he would do at first base. He does an adequate job in LF so why not try him at first base? They have a problem on the upcoming trip on how to get him the AB's we need. Three in SF and two in LA where there is no DH. I'd try to solve that by moving Tucker to CF, Brantley to RF, and putting Yordan in LF, especially if Valdez or McCullers are pitching since they are likely to get more ground balls than the others. They have made a mistake by not making it workable to have all of our left-handed bats in the lineup at the same time. |
