So let me get this straight with yesterday's game (I missed the last few innings)... We had a lead and went to Stanek in the 8th like we have been doing lately with pretty good success. He had two outs in the 8th with two runners on, and instead of letting him finish the inning with one more out, we replaced him with a guy who just got off the IL who is bad in any high pressure situations. That guy immediately walked a batter and then gave up a grand slam.
Pressly wasn't available because he had pitched the previous couple of games, including a game where we had a 4-run lead but used him anyways for some unknown reason.
Our bullpen could use some help, but that game wasn't blown because the bullpen isn't great. That game was blown because the bullpen was poorly managed.
P.S. Altuve ended up 0-5? Yikes... I expect a day off for him with Diaz at 2B very soon.

We had the lead in the 8th after Taylor had gotten all four hitters he faced, but, our idiot manager pulled him at the end of the 7th. If Dusty knew Pressly wasn't available, why did he not leave Taylor in to pitch the 8th since he probably wanted to use Stanek to close since Pressly was deemed "unavailable" even though he only threw 11 pitches on Sunday. Dusty had wasted him with a four run lead on Saturday and he had a high pitch count for the one inning he worked when he should have never been in the game. So, Dusty, brought Stanek in to pitch the 8th. With two out and two on, Dusty comes slouching out to the mound, pulls Stanek, and brings Raley in. Raley had just been activated and Dusty seems to thrive on making moves like this. He did the same with Pruitt in Chicago and Pruitt promptly gave up the game-winning home run. Raley had an 0-2 count on the first guy he faced and then walked him to load the bases. Then, he grooved a letter high pitch over the middle of the plate and Dylan Moore hammered it for a home run and we trail 11-8 and lose by that score. The game was blown by the stupid SOB wearing #12 with Baker Jr. on the back, who always has a new mask for each game complete with his own little wristbands. In short, he always looks like a circus clown. Altuve was 0-5.....struck out on three pitches in the first inning, and, unless I lost count, made three outs in which he saw only ONE pitch, which has become his norm. |

I like Toro more than most. But our pen had to be upgraded. Best thing is we kept our few good prospects.

I like this trade. We did see Toro improve which is why we could use him to add to the pen. I don't think we are done. Man, I wish we could still get Kimbrell. |
