Altuve, Brantley, and Yuli have had miserable results against Kikuchi. I wonder if one of them gets a day off today... And Castro is 0-6 against him but he'll probably catch Odorizzi.

Glad to see Altuve go 3-5 after his miserable game on Monday. Brantley is due to bounce back after last night. I hope we don't have to depend on Odorizzi to outpitch Kikuchi. Winning this series would be big for us and put the Mariners 8 games out. |

So Brantley has the day off with McCormick in LF. Castro is starting, and Diaz hits 2nd covering 3B. Giving Brantley the day off isn't a bad move. McCormick gives us more speed in LF and he is capable of big hits against a lefty, plus Brantley hasn't hit Kikuchi very well. We knew Castro would catch with Odorizzi pitching.' I wish I was more optimistic about this pitching matchup. |

Odorizzi has been solid overall. It's the 2nd time through the order that has caused him problems. He's been excellent the first time through. It might be because of pitch count as he struggles once he gets around the 60s in his pitch count.

If Jake is going to be good enough to stay in the rotation, he needs to be able to go through the lineup at least twice. Struggling after throwing 60 pitches is not what is needed from a starter. This problem with Jake plus Urquidy's ongoing shoulder issues is why we may need another starting pitcher. |

They need a starting pitcher mainly because of Urquidy’s shoulder and the fact that Javier and García are on innings limits. They really don’t need Odorizzi to struggle or go on any vision quests to go find himself.
