This could be a very rough game if Odorizzi isn't on his game. Outside of getting beat up by San Diego recently, Scherzer hasn't given up more than 2 ER since the end of April.

Odorizzi is going to have to be sharp if we are to stay in this game. It will be hard to put up a lot of runs against Scherzer. We need to hope that Yuli is back in the lineup and we don't have our outfield out of position. We got away with it last night. Plus, having Yuli means Diaz can go back to third base and Robel is not in the game. |

I am so proud of how the Astros responded to the harassment in LA last night. Nothing like a good ass kicking to calm down an over-zealous crowd. I am particularly proud of how McT held it together under circumstances that would have sent him into a twitch and fidget meltdown in the past. He is maturing.

Yeah Papa, that's one of the few advantages of being a non-contender. Teams in contention need to make roster space for players coming in on trades. And they need to hang on to right-now players on their 40 at the risk of losing players with future potential who can't help them right now. We've done well picking from the discard pile in the recent past. Akil Baddoo is Rule-5 grab and he's been amazing. Will Nivaldo pan out for us as a reliever, swingman, or even a starter? I dunno. But I'd give that a definite maybe. Right now we can afford the time to find out. |
