This is the perfect situation for Raley. No sweat, no strain, just chunk it up there. Even if they do hit it, so what. Still not safe enough to use Raley.

He's the second player in @astros history to have a multi-homer game within his first 7 career games, joining SS Orlando Miller, who hit 2 homers in his 3rd career game on July 10, 1994 at CHC.

Already hits better than Straw. I’m not talking about power, just talking confidence. I hope Thomas doesn’t crash his car reading that.

Garcia should get a bunch of votes for rookie of the year. He started a little rough tonight but got it together. He leaves the team in strike outs and has the lowest era of any qualifying rookie. He gets my vote I think he also has the most strikeouts of all AL rookie pitchers. And the best strike out ratio

Good thing for LAA that they have the Ohtani show because other than that they are pretty pathetic right now.

When MLB network was showing highlights of tonight's game, they emphasized that Jake Meyers was the reason Straw was traded. You have to like what you see from him. He's said to be an "elite" defender. He has good speed and good power. If he keeps this up, we have another good one.

4 shutout innings from the bullpen B team. Luis was tough when he had to be and got key strikeouts when he needed them....Bortaz is right about him leading AL rookie pitchers in strikeouts. Being able to avoid using our top guns in the pen is always good. There is no doubt as to who is tonight's player of the game.......Jake Meyers.

By what we have seen, Meyers definitely has way more power than Straw. If he can keep his OB high, then he definitely fits what the Astros and other analytical teams focus on, OB and SLG. I really hope he keeps it up.It is awesome to have someone promoted from the minors that produces/contributes. One where we can get excited about, thinking he is going to stick around and has the making of future starter. I hope Maton, who the Astros traded Straw for, can get a better command of his pitches. Out of Graveman, Garcia and Maton, Maton was the only pitcher with team control after this season. Therefore, it is important that he brings it together. He too fits the Astros narrative, he is a spin master. But watching on TV, at least for me, I don't see Maton stuff as being dominating/nasty/filthy. From tonight's and last week's performance, Astros bench: Diaz, Meyers, Wilson or Jones and Castro is trending upward.

One thing I like is his enthusiasm. He could be the shot in the arm this team needed because our offense had slowed down. Meyers, Diaz,Jones, and Castro are trending upward. We don't know which way Wilson will trend. Click should be making every effort to sign Graveman to an extension. Too early to tell on Garcia, but, Graveman should be made a priority.

Graveman pitching is impressive. It would be great if they could sign him to a 3 year deal. Pressly is a FA after next season, so it is very important to keep Graveman here. I am hoping Maton can put it together. He is a high spin rate guy, so he is in the right place to be in Houston. But, like I said, so far, I haven't seen anything from him yet that says wow.

I want to see more of Baez.

Maton hasn't come close to proving he was worth trading Straw. On the bright side, after seeing Myers, I can see why they made Straw available. Having him, McCormick, Tucker, and Brantley gives us four solid outfielders. Meyers and Chas both have the speed, plus they have the power Straw doesn't.

I didn't know anything about Meyers, so I was definitely upset when they traded Straw. Even Garza and Scrubb had some serious movement on one of their pitches, and you were like damn. But they shared the same problem as other relievers we had at the time, extremely wild. Maton seems wild too, but I haven't seen a pitch yet that completely owns the batter.
