Not sure why Grienke is even still pitching. Putting in Abreu after Greinke shows that Dusty didn’t care about winning today.

HBP, RBI single, slam, double and a K since Strom imparted words of wisdom to Abreu.

I would have gone to Javier. I am not at all shocked at the clown show Abreu put on.......ship his ass back to Sugar Land and bring up anybody. Maybe he will be gone when Urquidy is activated. Dusty never seems to give a shit about the last game of a series when we have won the others. Greinke sucked from the first inning on and Abreu is a damn joke.

HBP, RBI single, slam, double and a K since Strom imparted words of wisdom to Abreu. Attacking Strom for this shows you are desperate for something to complain about. Strom hasn't thrown a pitch yet. Keep in mind that Strom's pitchers have allowed the fewest runs in the AL. So, you and the other whiners need to find something else to gripe about.

As I reminded another whiner, Strom's pitchers have allowed the fewest runs in the AL and Strom has yet to throw one pitch.

Oh, now that he has good relievers? Gotcha. Did YOU forget that your uncle is retarded? We all remember that you despise Strom and would not give him any credit no matter how the pitchers perform. Then, we remember that you told the best player on the team to GTFO so it all makes sense. When you and that troll Tiger fan keep referring to me as "mongo" and a "retard", it tells me I'm hitting the nail on the head. If we all agreed on everything it would be dull. It doesn't bother me one bit to be in the minority on anything. Being insulted and called names is no reflection on me whatsoever and doesn't sway my thinking in the least.

Oh, now that he has good relievers? Gotcha. So, you think to be considered a top pitching coach that he needs to take pitchers who are either washed up like Joe Smith or not be worth a damn to begin with like Pruitt? You can't take shit and call it a good pen. But, you feel free to keep on bashing him. Those connected with this team and others all over baseball know he is an outstanding pitching coach. I guarantee you if the Astros were stupid enough to fire him, he'd have his pick of other coaching jobs. Thankfully, the Astros organization isn't that damn stupid.

No, but is it his manager's job to recognize that he is shitting himself and get him off the mound. I agree but I’m not going to put this all on Dusty when Greinke can’t do his job. Are you sure Corch is wrong? The Astros scored two runs today. IF Dusty had the foresight to pull Zack before he gave up two runs and IF the bullpen had put up all zeros, the Astros would have won! Zack didn't give up the second run until the fourth batter of the first inning. Pull him after the third batter and have the bullpen get all 27 outs without allowing another run to score. Easy-peasy!

You just say all of that because you’re retarded. Wrong again. I've been around the game from all standpoints long enough to recognize a good pitching coach when I see one. Strom is head and shoulders the best pitching coach this organization has ever had. I am not always right by any means, but, I am about this. You thinking I'm retarded doesn't make it so. I base my evaluation of coaches and players based on what I see or have seen. I don't go by who I like or don't like.

IF Dusty had the good sense to pull Greinke after five when we had just scored two runs to pull within 5-2 and had started to hit Hearn, it could have changed the whole game. Instead, he put Greinke back out there to give up another run and then brought in Abreu, who took us completely out of the game. The rest of the team knew it was over so why keep busting their asses trying to come back when Dusty killed any incentive they had to win by keeping Zack in too long and then bringing in Abreu. Hopefully, they saw enough to get Abreu sent back to Sugar Land. Your asinine comment was not at all surprising. It was evident from the first inning that Zack didn't have it, but, Dusty was right to give him a chance to get it together. But, once it is evident that he won't get it together, take him out. He waited too long and then used the wrong guy. Abreu was in Sugar Land due to control issues, but, Dusty brought him in the game anyway. Javier may not have had it,but, he should have been brought in instead of Abreu.

After a game like this one, it's best to file it away and forget about it. Concentrate on going to Seattle and winning this series. Put this crap today out of your mind.
We need to hope that Castro won't be out too long. We don't need to rely on Stubbs to do much catching.

IF Dusty had the good sense to pull Greinke after five when we had just scored two runs to pull within 5-2 and had started to hit Hearn, it could have changed the whole game. Of course, because the sputtering offense who never scored another run this game would have magically scored at least four more. Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug. Today the Astros were the bug. Shit happens, Mongo. After a game like this one, it's best to file it away and forget about it. Concentrate on going to Seattle and winning this series. Put this crap today out of your mind. But not before we blame it all on Dusty, right? lol

Put this crap today out of your mind. But not before we blame it all on Dusty, right? lol So, being the baseball scholar that you envision yourself to be, you think the players would have had the same lack of motivation to battle back from a 5-2 deficit as they did once Dusty allowed Abreu to put the game totally out of reach in the 6th/ LOL We had hit the ball hard in scoring those two runs and had four innings to come back from the three run deficit, but once that 5-2 deficit became 12-2 after Abreu coughed up the grand slam to Garcia, they had no incentive to battle back and never threatened again. The mental aspect came into play once the game got out of reach. I would think a genius like you would not need that pointed out to him. I can tell you from years of personal experience that's how it works. Dusty made the decision to send Greinke back out for the 6th after we cut the lead to 5-2 and were beginning to game some momentum. Greinke gave up another run and Dusty went out and brought Abreu in to put the game out of reach. He never showed any signs of throwing strikes yet Dusty kept him in there until we were down 12-2. The blame goes to Greinke, Abreu, and Dusty.

I still believe Stubbs would have made an excellent backup to Maldonado this year. He can do everything Castro can do. Sit on the bench? Check. Twiddle his thumbs? Check. Strike out looking? Check. Stare at umpire in disbelief? Well I don’t know. Nobody does that quite like Castro, but the fact that Stubbs would have been doing everything at minimum wage should trump any advantage Castro has in the “staring at umpire in disbelief” category.

He was never given a decent chance, Since they should have known he was too small to catch, they should have either switched him to another position or traded him. We don't need him doing much catching. I am glad you think so highly of my posts that you follow me all over the board picking out bits and pieces to comment about. And, they are always so constructive. LOL

We wasted the time we should have given Stubbs last year on Maldonado. We will never know if he could have been a decent back up. At this stage of the season, Castro is probably a better choice as back up because he has some experience working with these pitchers and Stubbs doesn't.

Josh James had another good relief appearance for Sugar Land tonight. 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K. Since being sent on his first rehab assignment on June 25, James has appeared in 18 games... 2 at Low A Fayetteville and 16 at AAA Sugarland. All of his appearances have been 2 innings or less. He has pitched a total of 17.2 innings. He has not allowed a home run.
In 8 appearances in August for Sugar Land he has pitched 8.1 innings, allowed no earned runs, 4 hits, walked 1 and struck out 13. Time to send Abreu down and bring James up.
