Unlike Correa, I’m not sure he wanted to come back.

Unlike Correa, I’m not sure he wanted to come back. My problem with Correa is and always was that he wanted what he could never get. If he were reasonable then sure let's keep the gang all together. But no way, there just is not enough money to pay everyone more than they are worth just to keep them around.

If you could have one of those players back on the Astros, with their respective current salaries / contract, which one would you want? That's tougher than people think.... The quick answer is Springer, but, if Straw continues at this level for the price, that would be really good too. Especially since George is injury prone. I would also consider Cole but he's just so damn expensive for so long... Not sure if I'd take Straw's SLG or McCormick's OBP

Cole (The contract way too long, way too expensive) 4. Morton 5. Keuchel

Straw.

How did Cole so quickly correct his stats? Just a couple weeks ago he was giving up 8 runs in an inning and not making it out of the 1st or 3rd. Did he find some stick-em?

He would be a good vet bat. Still need to upgrade catcher the most. Then followed by a good bullpen arm..... But I would welcome Josh Bell if the other two needs were met first.

The catching free agent crop next year outside of Contreras is hot garbage and Korey Lee isn't exactly tearing it up right now either. Could be another dark year of poor catchers.

He can't catch or play CF so we don't have a spot for him.

I believe Josh Bell is a free agent after this year. Even though we don't need a first baseman, I think his bat would be an asset to the team. He could definitely spot start at first base. If the Nationals don't ask for too much, he's a type of bat that would be great to have in the playoffs. I never want to see again Jason Castro as the Astros top bench hitter.

I made the last post without looking at Josh Bell's 2022 stats. They're pretty damn good. So if he keeps producing even close to that level, he would be too costly before the trade deadline. The focus would have to be on Wilson Contreras.

So far this year the Astros are 2 games over 500 on the road. The only American League team more than 2 games over are the Yankees and they are just riding a hot streak. Are hitters are hitting horrible and we are winning on the road. That is a real good sign. The Angels are 3 games over .500 on the road at 8-5

I’ve been disappointed with Korey Lee so far this season. He is going to have to pick up the pace with the bat before I am ready to anoint him as the team’s great hope for the future at catcher.

Agreed. It's obvious he has big-league power, but he has to show more. That being said, I find it really hard to believe that he couldn't duplicate Castro's performance (or improve upon it) for $3 million less.

Lee may not be fully ready, but I'd rather see him next year than a $3+ million dollar backup C.
