What a flop Baez was. A $14.5 million dollar bust. I'm trying to think of the last costly free agent flop we had. He'd had to have been somewhere between Baez and Woody Williams I'm guessing, and Woody was 15 years agoProbably the last time Timmy had one.

I like Chas, and I know they think they see something in Meyers....but I can't help but feel like we could really use Straw. Since leaving us: .287 AVG .369 OBP (109 OPS+) 17/18 SB and great defense. Oh, and he told Yankee fans to basically s*ck his d*ck. I like Maton, but I didn't like that trade at the time and still don't now. An everyday 3 win CF is a lot more valuable than a 7th inning reliever. Trading Straw for Maton was like trading Teoscar Hernández for Liriano. There were October-specific needs with regard to situational relief at the time, absent which they probably wouldn't have dealt

All the allowances for Maldonado’s overrated ass on offense should’ve been afforded to Straw. He provided great defense (crappy at first), baserunning speed, and bunting.

Wait, Harris and Osuna were both good, and Raley as well aside from some bad luck stretches. But that aside I don't think anyone is saying Strom is perfect or that no one ever failed. He's clearly excellent at what he does though, so all the snark he seems to get around here is puzzling. You don’t get that Strom receives all the praise in the world for good pitching and is casted no aspersions for bad pitching? The man is treated like a god. I liked Harris, but don't think he had a good stint here because of Strom. That'd mean Strom's responsible for Devenski turning into a dumpster fire, which I wouldn't agree with either

Remember Tony Sipp? Three years, $18 million. He at least had one of those years be pretty good, so maybe not as complete of a bust as Baez.

Let’s end the list there. Smith Sambito Pressly Pre-Pujols HR Lidge Valverde Honestly, ‘04 Lidge was the filthiest reliever the Astros ever had. The man was orbiting sliders around the zone and getting whiffs.
