So would you agree (not counting 2022 draftees). These players have the highest ceilings, plus future chances of getting to the majors and making a true impact 1. Brown 2. Leon 3. Diaz 4. Barber 5. Lee 6. Dirden 7. Solomon 8. Perez 9. Hensley 10. JC Correa 11 Whitley 12. Murray 13. C Gonzalez

Hensley 10. C. Gonzalez 11. Perez 12. Whitley I leaned more heavily toward which players I think are likeliest to make it to MLB than I did which ones have the highest ceiling. I’m not too high on Correa. Whitley only makes my list because of his “high ceiling.”

The battle of the titans is on in Sugar Land. It’s Keuchal vs McCullers! Game tied at 0 after 1.

I'm rapidly losing faith that Leon will be an impact piece. I would put Diaz and possibly Barber ahead of him now. Honestly I think Lee will be a starter and that's more than I believe for Leon at this point, so Lee above him as well. And although I like Dirden a lot, he's still striking out a bunch against AA pitchers, even during his red hot streak. Need to see more before I place him higher than Solomon. 1. Brown 2. Diaz 3. Lee 4. Leon 5. Barber 6. Solomon 7. Dirden 8. Perez 9. Dubin 10. Hensley

Astros + all four main minor league teams are off, so I dug around for info on the FCL (Florida Complex League) guys.
Drew Gilbert has crushed his first four games as a pro: .455/.600/.818 with three singles, a double, and a bomb. He's also 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts. Callamup.
Ryan Clifford played in his first game recently. 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Jacob Melton is 0-for-5. Tragic bust.
Our 6th round pick this year, catcher Collin Price, was started in A-ball. He's hitting .400/500/.533 in four games there.
7th rounder A.J. Blubaugh allowed 1 ER in his first pro inning of work. Same for 8th rounder Tyler Guilfoil.
BTW in case anyone was wonder, all picks but Isaiah Jackson did eventually sign. 19th-rounder John Garcia came down to the wire but ultimately accepted a $75,000 bonus.

First game at AAA, Dirden was 3-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI.
Korey Lee was 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.
Drew Gilbert debuted with Low-A Fayetteville. He was 0-for-4.
Collin Price DHed for Fayetteville and was 2-for-4. He has at least 1 hit in all 5 of his games with the team so far.
Tyler Whitaker has a pulse. August 2nd was his 20th birthday and his first game of the month. He is hitting .296/.345/.704 in 7 games since turning 20. Ten strikeouts in seven games isn't great, but it's something.

Yanier Diaz went 3-6 with a double and a home run for Sugar Land last night. He now has 12 home runs in 136 at bats since being promoted to AAA. He has struck out 25 times at AAA. That’s one K every 5+ at bats. He struck out once every 6+ at bats at AA before being promoted. This guy is a hitter. I look forward to seeing him in ST next season. I haven’t seen a list of which players Houston will send to the Arizona Fall League this fall. I’m hoping Diaz will play be one of them.
Korey Lee went 1-6 with a grand slam.

Quincy Hamilton has flown under the radar, and this article gives a good history lesson as to why: www.crawfishboxes.com/2022/6/15/23169868/new-to-high-a-of-quincy-hamilton-keeps-rakingHe raked for 49 games in A+ ball, striking out just two more times than he walked while posting a .203 ISO. That's a very rare patience/power combination. He was 1-for-4 with a walk but three strikeouts last night in his third game in AA. A name to watch over the final few weeks of the MiLB season. If he does well there, he should see AAA early next year and could be MLB-ready by this time next year, in a best-case scenario. Good news from Fayetteville; Gilbert was 2-for-2 with a 2-run bomb, and Whitaker was 2-for-3, and neither struck out.

It's just slugging percentage minus batting average. Been around for a long time now. .140-.150 is average. Anything .200+ is great.

Hunter Brown’s line for tonight’s Sugar Land game: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K I have no idea why they will not bring this kid up. Truly we have no need for a starter but if Garcia stinks up the joint again tonight then maybe they are doing him and the team a disservice by extending him out instead of letting his arm rest. The kid has not been the same as he was last year but he still is having a reasonably good year, just not as good as last year.

Korey Lee had a three-run bomb last night, the day after his slam. Mushinski pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts #GuysIdRatherHaveThanWillSmith
Gilbert 2-for-4, a stolen base and a caught stealing.

An interesting thing about Garcia is that he pitches much better away than he does at home. About a run and a half better.
