Bauer has averaged 108 pitches per start this season, so he probably gets to start the 7th inning. Indians bullpen offers lots of scoring opportunities in innings 7-9.

I hope they've learned their lesson starting Jake... I see the logic in not starting two weak outfielders like Davis & Kemp at the same time, but in a game vs Bauer/Greinke or similar, maximizing offense is critical. Maybe Davis wouldn't have gotten a hit off Bauer, but I think his chances would have been better. |

Maybe Smith is the first pitcher to relieve Cole if the Astros are still behind in the score. Saving Devo for tomorrow might be a good idea.

So Cole actually ended up with more Ks than IP and a WHIP under 1. Pretty good start. Should be 2-2.

Big mistake, I think, bringing Bauer out for the 8th. He was already losing command in the 7th.
Shows how much confidence Francona has in his bullpen.
