I was one of those bitching about it. Not necessarily because of the move itself but because a 50-year NL team had been strong-armed into doing it. I felt that the franchise had been disrespected. Plus I’m a naturally rebellious person who doesn’t like being forced to do something. BUT, as I’ve seen repeatedly in my life things that seem like a bad break sometimes turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Tal you nailed it, taking an original franchise out of the NL and were the chosen one over the Brewers by Bud to make the move. At that point the franchise was at its lowest point, on ownership to how the team was being operated. I also lost the opportunity of the Stros annual trip to Philly to see them once a year. I agree, didn't like the move but we are enjoying the golden years of Astros Baseball. One thing I have always wondered about in that whole move to the AL, when Crane bought the Astros he also bought a TV company and the TV company was valued at about the same dollar figure as the team. The TV deal blew up, lawsuits were filed and none of the money flowed that Crane needed at the time as he and his junior stake holders were hard up for cash. Then along came the move to the AL and the Astros were paid a lot of cash to go, cash that they sorely needed. It of course was played up that the commissioner decided it was the Astros that needed to go but maybe, just maybe a back door deal was done where Crane would piss and moan, the commissioner would take responsibility, the club would get the needed cash, and a year later a new deal gets struck, a much better deal for TV I might add, more cash for operations. The fan base is not mad at the team, the team settles all the lawsuits, and now every one is happy. Don't get me wrong, I always liked the move and it has really worked out for everyone. Sometimes it is just interesting how things manage to work out.

Yes Castro was in the dugout in NY for the series. In the Yankees or Astros? On the third base line.

You would get all the raw feeds from games, and actually during commercial breaks hear what the commentators were talking about the game or off the wall comments. I would watch the Stros on HSE and Bill Worrell was the main guy doing the games. That station also carried the Rockets, but a few years in I remember there was some kind of deal for the switch that sold the rights to cover the teams. That is when they started scrambling the feeds to watch. That might have been during those negotiations.

It was hell when it snowed to keep going out to clear off the snow for the signal to come through.

And Luhnow tried very hard to get Abreu when he first came into the league. Abreu chose Chicago. Wondering if he regrets that now. I like the fact that Brantley is in the dugout with the rest of the team even though he is out for the season. Have any of you seen Castro in the dugout since he went on the IL? I think I have but not as often.
