Tired of seeing the headlines, “how the postponement of game 3 could help the Phillies pitching staff.”
Nonsense. The Astros are the better team and they get the benefit of the added rest as well. Bullpen gets an extra day, JV and Framber get an extra day. Win tonight!

If the series goes long, it evens out.

If Lance can go 5 IP and 2 ER or better, I think the game is ours.

Be patient, drive up their pitch count, and attack the fastball when they make a mistake pitch.

I prefer Javier in Game 3 too. For some reason, hitters can’t pick up his fastball, which would pose a problem for their hitters, namely Castellanos. I’m okay with Lance in Game 3, though. I’m deathly afraid of JV in any games. I'm not afraid of JV pitching in relief this series. I think he'd thrive in a late-inning role. They've seen enough of Montero JV is a creature of habit. Starting is in his wheelhouse. Relief, not-so-much. The one time I recall him being used as a reliever didn't begin well, although it did ultimately result in a win. www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS201710090.shtml

Even when Verlander struggles he seems to get through the order at least once with minimal damage. The rainout would allow Dusty, if Dusty were so inclined, to pull Verlander in a game 5 when normal managers would do so. That is of course assuming that games 3 nd 4 do not wind up being extra inning affairs.

If the series goes long, it evens out. Without the rainout the Phillies were looking at basically a bullpen day for game 3 and at Suarez… who the Astros chased after just 3 innings with 6 earned runs and 3 home runs on October 4th this year…. to start game 4, before they could start Nola and Wheeler again on full rest. With that scenario the Astros were more likely to be up 3-1 before facing Nola or Wheeler again. With or without the rainout the Astros were going with McCullers and Javier in games 3 and 4. Yes. The rainout does help the Phils more than the Astros in the immediate future. If the series goes 7 games, it will even out.

Good news. The weather forecast for today, Wednesday and Thursday in Philadelphia looks good. 5% chance for rain all three days. Shouldn’t be another rainout.

My concern is that Nola and Wheeler will likely have more confidence at home, and, unless we just really have their numbers or they choke, the odds of them both having back to back bad starts again is slim. I'd have much rather faced the pre-rainout scenario than this.

Of all the northeast ballparks that Lance has pitched in, the only place he has had success is NY. Let's hope its that way in Philly.

Fun Fact:
Of all of the catchers that have caught Lance at least 25 innings, the catcher he had the most success was with Hank "The Robot" Conger. 50 IP and a 2.84 ERA.

Another of Kevin Cash’s assistant coaches, Quatraro, was named Royal’s manager a couple days ago. It seems that being an assistant coach to Cash looks good on a resume.
Apparently “assistant coach under Dusty Baker” on Espada’s resume is not helping him any.

That guy was pretty much a waste, imo. Offensively he actually had a very good year for a catcher. In fact, we haven't had a catcher hit as well as he did that year (109 OPS+) ever since, unless you count Gattis in 2016. He just couldn't throw out a runner to save his life.

I’m hoping for 3 more wins this series. 3 of 3 or 3 of 5. Either way is fine with me.
