Just a pathetic showing this series after such a strong run against ATL and TB. Really sad. Like the offense is on strike.

When was the last time the Astros played this badly over a month? It is like they have no incentive and no hunger. Dusty should not have been kept as manager of the team.

So, if Abreu hadn’t homered the last 50-plus games of ‘22 already in his mid-30’s, why did Crane want him so badly?

So, if Abreu hadn’t homered the last 50-plus games of ‘22 already in his mid-30’s, why did Crane want him so badly? That's not accurate. He had a homer in the last month of the season last year while hitting .286 with a .750+ OPS. It wasn't a great month, but it was above average and he had killed it the previous 3 months en route to a very good season. This year is strange. I'm almost wondering if he's hurt outside of pressing mentally with a new team.

Either way it’s a homer drought of one in half a season including his time here this season. That’s something that was common knowledge when he was a free agent. If the issue with Yuli was age and lack of power, it’s an odd target for them considering his slugging issues and being only slightly younger.

Meyers, and his pathetic arm, has no business being the CF.

It was his lack of everything... And obviously they didn't expect Abreu to go through this kind of slump after he had, overall, an excellent season even if the HR numbers were down. He also had 40 Doubles last year.

Looks like the Phillies are having their pay back from losing the WS. I would prefer the WS but this lack of production and playing overall isn't going to get them to the WS or even the playoffs

Maldonado OPS drops to .429 while hitting .131. His pitching staff gives up 6 earned runs, he doesn't throw out the only basestealer, and he's now 1-29 in his last 10 games.
I know I've might have been too hard on Maldonado at times in the past, but when is enough enough with this guy? How bad does he have to be for them to finally admit that he is hurting the team more than helping it?
(And I'm not blaming him for the loss, since he at least reached base twice.)

You were hard on Maldonado in the past when he could hit .230. You’re not harsh with him now. I think what really pushed me over the edge was him whining about Crane looking at Willson Contreras. He needs to get over himself, it’s a business.

We have one of the top-10 highest payrolls in baseball, I believe. It certainly looks like an overpay right now, but it didn't seem like it much at the time. Hindsight.

Every time Yainer is out there, he receives and throws well, and Brown has been our best pitcher (better than Framber so far!) Diaz literally has the upside both offensively and defensively to be the best overall catcher in franchise history. That's a low bar because we've never had a consistently good offensive catcher, but still. Play him for pity's sake. It's just asinine that Maldonado's name is just written in inerasable ink into 80% of the lineups. And Dusty won't even pinch-hit for him with the game on the line prior to the 9th inning. If Evan Drellich released an article exposing some kind of blackmail scheme on Maldonado's part on Monday, I don't even know if I would blink at it. There's just no logical explanation.

The only people advocating for Maldy anymore is Dusty and probably his teammates. Dusty said today that the pitchers like throwing to Maldy and that is why he is always catching. What do his teammates like more, Maldonado playing or actually winning? I’ll go with the later.
