Great to reconnect with everyone here. What turds at mlb.com... and with Manfred's stinking signature there on the page that told us all to get off his lawn. Maybe a few fewer visits to his MLB stadium lawn might be in order. $ talks.

Cussing should be allowed...Along as it used in good taste....meaning not cruel...slapstick ok, fun little jabs, sure...but not to the point you are being Andrew Dice Clay.... Filing half of my posts without a "<" is going to be hard to get used to.

If you quote a long post, but are only replying to a part of it, you can also erase the portion you're not replying to. For Astrodoug's 9000 word essays, for instance. That's the spirit!

Now that I see this site on my computer, I really like it! I used the web address on my phone, and I realized that I don't need to use Tapatalk.
Great job by Bortaz finding this site, and getting things started!!!

Glad you set this up. As per usual I lurk 90% of the time and post the other 10. MLB should have shown us the courtesy of giving notice (24-72 hours at least) before pulling the plug and set up an archive so that old posts could have been retrieved. C'est la vie.

The world does seem to be getting filled with inconsiderate jackasses. MLB just took it up a notch with the crap they pulled. I will defiinitely second the thanks on setting this place up. It seems like a very easy spot to interact with and I have not found any glitches as yet.

You can also highlight, copy, and paste just the part you want to quote...., just like on the now defunct post.

One thing that is missing is “replied to” so that the recipient knows you are directing your comment to him/her/it. At least that is what I see on my ipad. Much like it was when posting from cell phone at old site.

instead of quick reply....you can go to create a post, and then it will copy the post you are referencing to....but if quick reply, could reference to the post you're responding to that would be great.

I agree that would be nice. I don’t necessarily want to quote a post or part of a post when I reply to someone, but I would like for the recipient to know that I am directing my comment to him/her.

Batman, I believe it's set to where you can edit for up to 5 minutes. Is there a way for you, as admin/mod, to go in and edit a users post? I'm asking for the predictions thread. I was thinking that if we could constantly edit the original first post, there wouldn't be a need for 10 + page of copy/pasting the huge schedule. Everything could just be done on the first post and everyone could see it instantly.

“I hate I missed you yesterday ol papa. Do you have a grandson playing in the league?”
Yes. Youngest grandson.., a 6 year old (7 year old by the new LL rule on birthday cutoff date). They had their first game yesterday. Brought back memories. I coached that age group for three seasons. I sat in the dugout and helped a lady learn how to keep the scorebook. At one point during the game one of the boys did something crazy on the field and the lady exclaimed quietly, “Lord Jesus!” I told her, “That won’t be the last time you say Lord Jesus this season.”

Good one. One of my favorite memories was at one of my son's games at about age 7. Right Fielder yelled that he found a snake, and the entire OF and half of the IF ran over to the cornered serpent.
Time Out!!!!!!

In my efforts to keep long-winded posts off this forum. That was a joke, son. Don’t let it get you all wadded up.

“Good one. One of my favorite memories was at one of my son's games at about age 7. Right Fielder yelled that he found a snake, and the entire OF and half of the IF ran over to the cornered serpent.”
I last coached 6-8 year old boys in 1982. My fondest memory of the three years I coached that age group is of a little timid boy named Scotty. His mom was a single mom. He was a 7 year old who had never played badeball and it was obvious that.., like many of the kids.., nobody had worked with him much, if any at all. His mom had purchased him a glove that was way too big for him..., probably 11” glove. He could hardly keep the glove from falling off his his hand. I was lucky to have several dads who would come out and help me and my assistant coach at practice most days. I organized my practices into several circuits in different areas around the field. I had one dad in one area just playing catch with one kid at a time. Another dad would toss popups to one kid at a time. When that dad would toss a popup he would say, “Catch it in the air,” in order to get the boys to try and catch it rather than letting it fall and then pick it up. Another dad would hit ground balls to one kid at a time. We would have the kids rotating from one area to the next throughout the practice. While this was going on in the different areas I would set up some kids in the positions in the field and toss batting practice and/or work on baserunning or playing defense as a team. Our practices weren’t really long...maybe 1:15 most days.., sometimes 1:30.., but we kept all the boys busy.
Anyway.., this little boy Scotty could not catch a thrown ball or a popup/flyball at all when he showed up for his first practice. We worked hard at teaching the boys though. Late in the season we were playing a game and we were ahead by one run in the last inning. The other team was at bat with two outs and the tying run on 3rd and winning run on 2nd. I had Scotty playing in shallow right field. The batter hit a high flyball right to Scotty in right field. He didn’t have to move an inch. I yelled, “Catch it in the air Scotty!” The little guy raised that big old glove up and.., lo and behold.., the ball dropped into it and didn’t fall out. His catch saved the game for us!! I had two big 8 year old boys on that team.., identical twins..., who both weighed over 100 pounds. Those big boys ran to Scotty.., picked him up on their shoulders.., and carried him off the field, surrounded by the rest of the team. What an emotional moment that was. I am sure Scotty has carried that moment with him for the rest of his life.
