I still can’t believe how this game transpired… I’m not giving up on the season because I do believe with a few trades and Urquidy, Altuve, and Alvarez healthy we can still battle for the division. A wildcard is probably more likely though. I also am partially yearning for next season because I have hopes Dusty won’t be the manager and Maldonado will no longer be on the team. I am hoping yesterday’s loss stings enough so Crane/Brown make the right moves at the trade deadline. Yesterday loss would have been worse post trade deadline. Makes me that much more glad this powder keg of a bullpen held that last Rangers game.

I hope Crane went to bed angry and disgusted last night, and called up Dana first thing this morning and said "Go do something. This is not acceptable. This is not what this team is supposed to be." He was so angry he extended Dusty and Montero’s respective contracts.

So, what are your thoughts regarding Martín Maldonado? Please don’t hold back. Okay. Martin Maldonado on this roster, in this franchise which had one of the most dramatic turnarounds in sports history because of it's ruthless, emotionless adherence to logic and numbers, is making literally one of the worst players in the game an everyday fixture in the lineup. They are doing it in spite of logic and numbers clearly demonstrating that the things that were always bad about him are getting worse, and the things that were always good about him are also getting worse. All the measurable value he once provided is completely gone, in every aspect of his game. The only reason he remains on this roster is because of the tired old adherence to "intangibles" and "leadership" that this team had it's greatest success by discarding, and has always found failure when it embraced it ("leadership and intangibles" are why we brought Beltran here.) Maldonado is now everything bad about baseball, killing this team every time he takes the field. Every time he takes the field he makes a mockery of all the progress this team spent the last 12 years working towards, and the progress the sport itself has made over the last 20 years. He should be released today. Immediately. Period. My main issue with him is bunting (he’s terrible) and passed balls. As far as I know, a catcher is supposed to catch the ball, right?

There is no way he belongs on our roster. Not with Lee sitting idle and Diaz already on the roster.

Now it is growing soft perhaps because Crane is trying to create a new image. That is of course my opinion and perhaps it is just pure stupidity. My money is on the former. If this team wants to get its edge back some dead wood has to be culled. Maldonado and Dusty are the biggest logs but there are others.

I still think there's a good chance Dusty & Moldy won't be back next year I agree 100%. Saying that, I am a fan of Dusty. Dusty is a true student of the game, a man that has seen and forgotten more than most of us will ever know when it comes to the game. I respect him for his love of the game.

He can't hit, he can't draw walks, he strikes out 30% of the time, he has trouble even bunting, he can't catch the ball, his framing has tanked, and he can't throw out anyone anymore with the new bigger bases. He literally cannot do anything well on the field anymore.

I still think there's a good chance Dusty & Moldy won't be back next year That's cold comfort when we're just 3.0 games out of the division lead and hoping to make a deep run THIS year.

I think Crane may be underestimating the value that Luhnow brought with his calculated ways. The media always hated him and berated the franchise. I think Crane is listening to the wrong people now, who talk about intangibles and how valuable Maldonado is in the clubhouse and all that. Guarantee that's what Bagwell and the like think of him. There's no chance Maldonado is still the everyday catcher, or even on the roster maybe, if Luhnow were still running things.
