Dusty is going to find ways to regularly work Maldonado in the lineup no matter what happens to this team. It's a principle for him. He basically said as much with his "respect the older guys" comments the other day.

I have no problem with the statement Respect older players but you don't do that when it affects the outcome of a game. Maldonado should be taking time to mentor Diaz and also talking to the younger players who are struggling at the plate about what the opposing pitcher might be throwing at them.
