Here's to hoping Framber builds off his No Hitter and has another stellar performance. It would be good to win the first one in Baltimore! This is another pitcher we have never seen before.

Baltimore is playing some really good baseball, but have also been fortunate in some close games as evidenced by their Pythagorean W/L which has them 7 games better than expected. Their team OPS+ and ERA+ are very similar to ours. A little better hitting but a little worse pitching.
Where they don't have elite offensive performers like we do (Yordan, Tucker, Altuve, and Chas currently), they have a way more consistent lineup. We have peaks and valleys, they're mostly a very solid plateau offensively. Their starting pitching is not as good as ours (on paper), but they have a couple down right despicable relievers. Their closer is probably the best in baseball. If they have a lead going into the 8th inning, we're in significant trouble.
We really need the offense to pick it up better and earlier than they did in most of the NY series, and hopefully Framber can make it back to back good starts.

It’s like they brought back Gurriel, paid him double, and he left his glove in Cuba. I wasn't super concerned when he had a slow start since he historically has been a slow starter. But August overwhelmingly has been his best month during his career (over a 100 points higher in OPS than any other month!), and he looks utterly lost. This season is no longer following his typical path to where there should be encouragement that he'll get hot again... The guy is a known finisher...and he ain't finishing, he looks finished. |
