Verlander gets the start. Anybody not expecting McCann to come off the DL AND get the start?

It seemed pretty apparent that Verlander was very much missing McCann last start. I'd be amazed if he doesn't start, and continue to start, for Verlander the rest of the year if healthy.

Despite the slow start, Bregman is quietly on pace to have his best year yet if the power continues to come back. Currently on pace for:
18 HR 73 RBI 84 Runs 15 SB 48 Doubles 4.5 WAR (Beating last year's 4.1.)

McCann is about as fast as me after a pulled hamstring, but I still miss his steady presence in the lineup. Even with the bat and arm strength declining, he is a very good receiver and generally a very calming presence for the pitchers, imo. Hopefully a little rest did him some good. Quite frankly, he probably needs to just completely move to an all or nothing approach offensively, especially when nobody is on base. Swing for the fences and try to lift everything, or work a walk. Pulling groundballs just means he has to run. You don't have to run if you hit a HR. I'd rather him strikeout than try to run out a groundball he hit into the shift. And I'm not sure he'd be fast enough to run out a bunt even without a 3B on that side. |

I fully expect McCann to catch Verlander tonight. He may have stayed on the DL awhile longer otherwise. Verlander works best with McCann

Excuse me if I go off topic. I just witnessed an accident about 20 minutes ago. An idiot was tailgating me and whipped around me and then had to go into the ditch to avoid the traffic I had slowed down for. In doing so he lost control hitting two other cars at the intersection. His own child was in his back seat and the driver of one of the other cars appears to have minor injuries (Concussion?)
I was told to leave the scene by the responding officer without him even getting my name because my car wasn't damaged. Anyway, I haven't experienced an Adrenalin rush like this in quite a while.
Please leave a little earlier rather than driving like your on a NASCAR CIRCUIT.

I've always been hard on Marwin, but he's really an average hitter with good defensive utility. I just don't like when they think he can be starting regularly. He's actually been looking a little better recently. He has an .892 OPS over the last two weeks. And he's on pace for:
10 HR 73 RBI 46 Runs 5 SB and a 90 OPS+. And he's only making 5 mil.
He's a great bench player to have.
