Altuve robbed and Yordan with rotten luck. Should be at least 3-2

One of the rare losses this year where we played better than the other team and still lost. Horrible luck on offense tonight.

Bad luck, sure. But there was no bad luck on the Bregman AB in the 8th. Just need a fly ball for crying out loud...another popup. Horrible AB. And what in blazes was Caratini thinking in the 10th. Way to just assume hit and take the bat out of Altuve's hands.

Winners make their own luck. It's a cute quote, but it isn't always true. Bad luck is loser talk for a team that’s 10-20.

I’m not criticizing you. It just gets old when you hear on tv about bad luck and exit velocity constantly. That ball was hit at 137 mph! Was it an out, though?

It just gets old when you hear on tv about bad luck and exit velocity constantly. That ball was hit at 137 mph! Was it an out, though? It's frustrating, but it's also true. If hitters go up and hit screamers right at people, it's bad luck for the offense. Especially when the defense makes a great play. The percentages are in your favor when you hit the ball hard. So if you hit the ball hard and it doesn't end up a hit, you had bad luck in a situation where you should have had success. It's just how it is. I'm not going to be mad at the team that loses when things just aren't getting through for them. I'll be mad for things like Bregman's popout for sure, but if he had hit it 105mph instead and lined out, that's rotten luck. I hear people on the radio compare today's hitters to Tony Gwynn a lot. Great hitter, blah blah blah, could slap the ball wherever he wanted, yada yada yada. All true. But he also hit during a time where the average fastball velocity was in the high 80's. The year after he retired in 2002, the average velocity was 89. In 2024, out of the current 337 pitchers in baseball, 288 of them throw harder than that now. (151 of them throw 94mph or higher...) Hitting is harder now than it has ever been before. You can't just slap the ball around as easily as you used to.

The least they could do is send runners to avoid DP’s or bunt a runner over to third in extras. Shit, maybe do a squeeze play once in a while. They just keep losing and talking about luck and exit velo like some consolation. It’s gotten old.
