I agree Kuechel is having an off year, but a 4.45 e.r.a. in the AL isn't exactly stinking up the place.

I think the problem is when you have one of the best staffs in recent history, one outlier's mediocre performance looks a lot worse than it really is.

MY bigger concern is whether he is having some medical issues that is skewing his numbers.

Perfectly said.  And he was really having a fine season until the last couple starts. He's no longer an ace, but he's a decent pitcher who can still be very good when on his game.

I think you might be spot on.  I remember last year he had a mid-season stint on the DL, that many thought might look suspect.  

His arm might not be good for 250 innings a year anymore, and if he can get a good midseason rest, and then kill in the playoffs......   we all win.

It was kind of a given Keuchel would become the punching bag of the rotation after Fiers was non-tendered. They rarely miss bats, they both rely on worm-burners to get outs, and they both make the defense work hard behind them

I know, but that's annoying there has to be a punching bag at all.  A pitcher's goal is to miss bats and/or induce as much soft contact as they can.  Keuchel is a soft contact guy.  He's still mostly doing that fine.  Most pitchers don't strike out 200+ a year the way Verlander and Cole are.

Yes, and it's everywhere.  I can't even read the comments on Astros Facebook posts without getting annoyed.  It still surprises me how quickly so many people are able to completely abuse players and coaches that just helped bring in a championship less than a year ago when the team is still doing very well overall.

I tend to defend Marwin due to past glory, and I think that’s the same mistake fans make about Keuchel. Beyond the beard and the mystique of 2015, you’ve got to look at what he is now - a downward trending pitcher who isn’t that great right now.

This comment would hold more weight if you weren't such a raging hypocrite in regards to complaining about the players. You don't know (or won't admit) it, but you're one of the worst at throwing players under the bus. Unless it's your boy Giles.

Astros are in good shape, if going into the playoffs, Keuchel is their #4 or #5 pitcher.... Luhnow, come trade deadline, will acquire a veteran bat and at least one superior bullpen arm.  Tucker will be promoted, so then the Astros will have a veteran bat for leadership + future star, added to the defending champs.  Astros future is very, very bright.

I continue to defend Marwin cause you can stick a glove on him and insert him anywhere on the diamond in an emergency. That aspect of his game may not be appreciated, but it's something we're gonna miss when he's gone

Who have I thrown under the bus?  I said that I didn't think Kemp would be as good as Marisnick was last year, and I'm hard on Altuve (but never want him gone).  Other than that, I can't think of a time I've begged for someone to be released or demoted, etc.  Unless you're saying when I criticize a particular play or call. 

Edit: I've even defended Marwin and Marisnick as having value as roleplayers for us.  I just don't want to see them starting too much.

I think he’s an unheralded player for what he brings to the team despite his shortcomings on offense. Game 2 of last year’s World Series cemented his hero status for me.

You are right, if the Stros were in last place, then their would be a time for whining. But then again you were around during the lean years and the forum was dead. If you want to find a complaint, this team should have about eight more wins and it is easy to ride anyone from last seasons performance.
