Maybe it because of the Takedown of Black Panthers actually one of their Leaders in South Houston in 1971. Most of you in here are too young and of course History will never tell you the truth.

They moved the family homeless shelter. Next is the shelter for the men. I live in Eado and am excited with all the restaurants/bars that are opening in the area. Lots of foot traffic. I still wouldn’t be out there late at night until they get all of them out of here.

No. It's downtown with all the homeless people. Houston like all major cities is full of inconsiderate jackasses. I grew up there and signed up to go to Nam just to get out of there, (signed up to go, never went). Then I got transferred back and accepted a transfer to El Paso to get out of there again. |

And to be honest, Houston itself is a bit of a dump. Burbs are nice, though. A result of disorganization, no planning, and a lack of zoning kind of screws the City when they try to change things up. It also doesn’t help that it’s such a concrete jungle here. |

The fact that Sheila Jackson Lee keeps getting re-elected to Congress isn't a testimonial to Houston, even though I think most of her district is in the fifth ward.

Actually, the Shootout was in July of 1970 between the Black Panthers (Peoples Party II) and the Houston Police Department
I was in the vicinity when this went down. I knew some of the people involved vaguely.
