We're such a horrible base running team. Good thing we have a nice lead.

I think the umps blew that call. The force was off and Gattis was at the bag before the tag. He called it like a force play.

In a close game, Hinch probably would have argued it. Definitely one of the funkier DP's I've seen in a while.

Verlander is still on the mound.

There was no reason for Verlander to be out there this inning. Dumb.

The base hit call for Davis' pop-up was kind of rotten for Verlander, in terms of him being charged with 3 ER now.

That's 7 IP and 2 ER in my book.

No walks surrendered by the pitching staff today.

Nothing much to complain about with the Astros right now. The hitting has come around and the pitching, while not as great as earlier, is still very good. On to KC.

Another great game by the offense and another good start from Verlander. Only negative was another round of silliness by Julia Morales.

Through 70 games last year, the Astros were 46-24, so this year's team is just one win off that pace.
Last year's 70th game was a 6-5 loss to Boston (Price vs. Musgrove). Correa, Marisnick, and Springer all homered in that game, but it wasn't to be.

Apparently the Astros are the 1st team in 64 years to win 26 of their first 37 road games in back2back seasons

If they beat up the weak sisters in the meantime, it’ll be fine. Apparently, the Mariners that they beat up to win 3 of 4 in Seattle is much better without Canó.

It really doesn't matter who we beat or not during the regular season as long as we get to the postseason healthy.

Would rather the Astros take it easy with him if need be and even give McHugh some spot starts then worry about him finishing games. I want Keuchel dominant against the Yankees when we need him

If only for this moment in time, the Astros have more hits than any other MLB team, at 632.
OPS is third-best in MLB now at .769, OBP is tops in the AL at .335 (only the Cubs are doing better over in the NL), and the Astros have the highest batting average of any team at .264. Not bad for a supposedly "pitching-first" team!

They've only got one more series against the Big Boys. A three game series with Boston. Unless you count Seattle, and there are three series and ten games there. Perhaps a three game series with the Dodgers. All the rest can be considered weak sisters.

KC has been playing rotten baseball this year, but they were one of the few teams to post a winning record against the Astros last season.
While KC has some of the worst pitching and weakest hitting in the majors, one odd thing about them is that they rarely strike out. They make lots of outs, just not by way of the K. Soler, Merrifield, and Moustakas should be the main guys to watch out for.
Also, this series will give us a chance to see potential future Astro, Kelvin Herrera, in action.
