Todd is correct everyone .. trading Kemp voids the deal. The original debate was about Kemp's callup, and whether Kemp's 2018 campaign as a 4th OF for the team would be more productive than Marisnick's campaign in the same role last year for all intents and purposes I cannot find any mention of roles in the discussion that resulted in the Brussel Sprouts and Sour Cream agreement.

The original debate was about Kemp's callup, and whether Kemp's 2018 campaign as a 4th OF for the team would be more productive than Marisnick's campaign in the same role last year for all intents and purposes The Brussel Sprouts and Sour Cream agreement is simple one and straight forward. The terms of that agreement were established on May 23rd on the OlPapa Farm Report thread: “May 23, 2018 at 2:07pm olpapa said: Ok. Marisnick’s RC in 2017 was 36. If Kemp finishes the season with 36 or more RC, you will eat the sour cream and brussel sprouts live on Facebook, right? saint said: And same or better WAR to include defense.” Those are the conditions that were agreed to. Kemp must finish the season with 36 or more RC and a WAR that is the same or better than Marisnick’s 2.0..., and Saint agreed to eat sour cream and brussel sprouts live on facebook if Kemp meets or exceeds those numbers. There are no other conditions. There were/are no conditions based on the role Kemp would play. There was/is no opt out clause in the agreement that will permit Saint to weasel out of the agreement if Kemp is traded.

Now I'm torn.... Root for Kemp to be successful with us or hope he gets traded. 😁 I see you have counsel.

Todd isn't stupid. He wouldn't have taken the bet with the understanding Kemp could pad his stats by finishing the season as an every-day regular somewhere else. And theretofore removing the basis of comparing him to someone who wasn't an everyday starter in 2017 .. which was the original debate

Todd originally wanted Kemp to match Jake in HRs, to which I suggested we compare RC out of fairness to Kemp not being a power hitter

I would defend myself but Bear is correct. The original argument was due to my defense of Marisnick having value for us last year in his role. My point with Kemp would be that I didn't think he could match that this year if we replaced Marisnick with Kemp. Not if Kemp became an everyday starter for another team.
If Kemp won the job as an everyday starter on our team that would be different.
I shouldn't have needed to make stipulations...I figured people understood the comparison.

You contend that there were stipulations in the agreement that simply were not, and are not in the agreement. I have submitted the post that clearly states what was agreed to. If you can produce any post where the parties agreed that Kemp must perform in a specific role as a condition of the agreement, please do so. If you can produce any post where the parties agreed to a no-trade clause, please do so.

It will probably be a non-factor anyways.
On a side note, old Jake is now on pace for an even better season then last year WAR-wise. Currently on pace for a 2.4 WAR. His offense is still poor, but at least it's not embarrassingly poor.

His offense is still poor, but at least it's not embarrassingly poor. At this point Kemp has not finished the season with a RC of 36 or more and a WAR of 2.0 or more. Until such time as he does, and Saint does not eat the Brussel Sprouts and Sour Cream, there is no violation of the agreement. Concerning Jake...., his usefulness to the team is as a late inning defensive replacement. Anything the team gets out of him above replacement level on offense is just a bonus. Marisnick seems to be a popular guy with his teammates too. Kemp performing as well as he has complicates things for Luhnow if he decides to call up Tucker before September 1st. If there is no injury that requires an extended stay on the DL for one of Springer, Reddick or Marwin, you’ve got to figure that either Jake or Kemp will be sent down if Tucker is called up before the rosters are expanded. IMO, if Jake had continued at the sub-Mendoza, 50%+ K level, and Kemp continued to produce at his current level, it would have been hard to justify sending Kemp down and keeping Jake on the ML team. What, if anything, would that do to team chemistry? Would you upset team chemistry by sending a popular Jake down in spite of the fact that he is not producing? Would you upset team chemistry by sending down Kemp...who is producing for the team while Jake is not? Who knows? Team chemistry is a fragile thing. If Jake continues to produce with the bat, it will make Luhnow’s decision to keep Jake up and send Kemp down much less controversial.

At this rate my wife is going to need to learn how to cook brussel sprouts... I am confident Kemp will get the 36 or more RC. He’s halfway there already. The 2.0 WAR is going to be close.

I don't even know how to cook brussel sprouts... This was a bad idea. Son, just go to a ramen place like Tiger Den and have the sautéed brussels sprouts there. You’re welcome.

Astros are 26-16 in games Jake has started. So, clearly the win-loss record for certain players is meaningless.
