We had an excellent September last year as well, but May '17 was 22-7 and the high water mark in the last two years an probably ever for a full month. We can beat that  with 5 wins.

I just looked back as far as 1975 and we had three months with identical 22-7 records for a .759 winning percentage. 5 wins would put us at 22-5 and a .815 win percentage. 21-6 would only be .778. Well that would do it as well. 20-7 would be .741 so I was wrong.

We need 4 wins to complete the best full month in team history.

What the hey. Just win them all.

Because of the timing of this inclement weather, it is possible that we have played our last game this season. The Astros should seriously consider forfeits at this point since it will not affect the playoffs or draft slot. Perhaps agree with the Orioles to split the remaining forfeits.

Meanwhile, we have been deluged with Rain and flooding here on Long Island. Several Roads were impassable this morning with cars stranded. It is still raining though not hard now but the Ground is completely saturated.

There is always value to be found in an actual game.  I'm surprised you of all people wouldn't agree with that.

Reasons to play:

1. Potentially set the franchise record for Wins.
2. Verlander would like another good outing/win to boost his CY chances (and he's just a flat-out competitor).
3. Keuchel, Morton, Gattis, and Marwin are all free agents.  Anything they can do to boost their value is important to them (and possibly to us if we want any of them back).
4. See what Davis, Straw, Tucker, etc. have to offer in a few more games.
5. Make final choices for the postseason roster.
6. Bregman is a fringe MVP candidate (and is too much of a gamer to forfeit).

Angelos doesn't care about injuries to the Astros going into the post season from playing on a saturated field. We should.

But if the field is unplayable tonight, there's no way we play back to back double headers. If we must, I'd call up the AAA and AA teams and sit the playoff roster.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm extremely concerned about playing on a saturated field this late in the season. It is a recipe for disaster.

That's good But unless they have a superior grounds keeping crew, there will be wet and slippery spots, particularly in the outfield which will make every play a potential disaster for any player's post season chances.

The should protect their playoff roster at all cost.
