I see what you did there. Singleton got a lot of hits after he got the $10 million contract. Ah but his memory is a little hazy on most of them.

J.J. Matijevic got promoted to A Advanced Buies Creek from Quad Cities this morning. He was picked in the 2017 draft with pick Astros got from Cardinals as a result of hacking incident. He is our #25 prospect according to mlb.com.

Now that note from OlPapa made me spit out my coffee. As long as he keeps hitting, I think that boy's got a future in the big leagues.

As long as he keeps hitting, I think that boy's got a future in the big leagues. If memory serves me correctly, he threw out 51% of runners attempting to steal on him while he was at USC.

Posted a 1.72 ERA across three levels in the minors last season (Rookie League, Short Season A and Full Season A), allowing just 39 hits and 9 walks in 47 IP while striking out 53.

Kyle Tuvker RF: 0-6, BA .285 If I went 0-6 in a PCL game, I'd probably change my name to some Kazikistanian variation too.

That was an odd game for Tucker to go 0-6 in. By the third inning every starter except for Tucker already had at least 1 hit and he ends up going 0-6. Of course he didn’t strike out a single time so he may have had one of those nights where every ball he hit was right at someone.

.....or maybe not. I just checked the game log and he had 4 ground balls to the second baseman, one groundball to the first baseman and a fly out to CF. Game log mentions only one ball being hit sharply.

You have to give someone to get someone but giving up Straw is tough. His obp and defensive capabilities are major league ready right now. He has 4 of the 5 tools and they are working on the fifth. Lots to like about this guy, would be a shame to give him up.

AJ Reed is looking like a AAAA player.
|
|
|
Post by m240 on May 9, 2018 7:13:33 GMT -6
The knock on Reed when he was highly rated was a concern that his swing would not transfer to the bigs. Too long and too slow. Well it appears as if they may have been correct but it is hard to give up on a guy with his potential. If he could see his way around a few snickers and pecan pies and get his weight down to around 235 then that bat may speed up.

It was very good to see *no walks* from Guduan or Hoyt in yesterday's game. Both of those guys could see time with the Astros this season.
The way Federowicz continues to hit and throw out baserunners, I would start viewing him as the 3rd/emergency catcher instead of Gattis.
