They could always claim they had a "setback" in their recovery, and keep them on the DL until 09/01 True. I doubt MLB sends a league physician to investigate these DL assignments.

Fresno, Corpus Christi, Buies Creek and Quad Cities have all qualified for the playoffs,
Fresno will face El Paso on the road in the first game of the best-of-five Pacific Coast League semi-finals on September 5.
Corpus Christi will play a team yet to be determined at home in the first game of the best-of-five Texas League semi-finals on September 5.
Buies Creek will face Winston-Salem at home in the first game of the best of five Carolina League semi-finals on September 5.

The guy hit .361 in April and .367 in May at AA and then .355 in June at AAA. Then he hit .209 in July and so far in August he is batting .213. How do you explain a guy dropping from a .350+ hitter from April-June to a slightly above the Mendoza line hitter in July and August, if the guy isn’t playing with an injury? I haven’t seen any reports of him being injured.
