As I told you before.......you can't read. Show me where I said your ratings were based on WAR. I said I looked at the WAR stats and they pretty much followed your ratings. Now, read closely.....I DID NOT SAY YOU USED WAR..... So what does this mean: "From what I can tell, you basically based your grade on OWAR" Even you can't keep up with your flopping, Beto. As ususl, you take out the part of my comments that you think proves your point. Does you "basically" mean you DID.......NO. I did not say that you totally used war. But, you go look at the WAR of the players you rated adn you will see that these ratings pretty much line up with the WAR of each player. You can't edit that because I got them here. www.baseball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2018-batting.shtml

You used WAR and OPS when you were trying to prove that White should play and Gurriel should be benched. WAR is not a rate stat. It increases with playing time if your performance is good. Somebody with twice as much playing time SHOULD have a higher WAR. And that being said, Gurriel had more than twice the amount of playing time that White had....yet his WAR was NOT twice what White's was. Do you understand the math with what I'm saying? OPS, however, IS a rate stat. It's OBP plus SLG. It's generally a quick easy way to see a player's offensive production rate (how often do they get on base, and, when they do, how many bases did they get). And White killed Gurriel with that stat. Like, not even close. In any case, I used their whole performances, offense and defense and baserunning, in making my assessments. I didn't use WAR as any type of primary factor because I think it does overvalue some defensive metrics. But it certainly was worth a mention with the rest of their offensive numbers. I'm sorry that you think Gurriel is a great player where as I think he is just a solid player. It's just my opinion. I have never said Gurriel is a "great player",but, he is NOT a weak defensive first baseman and he IS one of the best clutch hitters in baseball. I had the good sense to note that White has turned it on to become a good hitter who hits in the clutch. On the other hand, you are still stubborn or dumb enough to refuse to admit to Gurriel's value.

I gave Gurriel a C+. That means slightly above-average all things considered. I'm not going to pretend he is a good defensive 1B compared to the rest of the league like you, but his strong hitting in tough situations and high AVG gives him some value. I said that initially. What part of that is refusing anything?

I already said that I used Baseball-reference.com as the website that I said I used to pull their numbers. What's your point? I took WAR into consideration as I did the rest of their numbers, so there is bound to be some similarities.

I never said WAR was the deciding factor you used. I said your ratings pretty much fell in line with the WAR numbers.

You hardly base your opinions on stats at all or else you'd have more accurate opinions. I know enough about the game to realize that you don't form a complete, accurate opinion of a player by what I see on a stat sheet. I am not dumb enough to think stats tell the whole story. I do use some stats, but, WAR is not at the top of the list. I use batting average, OBP, comparing walks to strikeouts, runs batted in, hitting with RISP. I also see the game situation when the player either delivered or failed. Does he advance runners even though he makes an out? Does he get home runs or other RBI's with the game still in doubt or does he pad his stats when the game has been decided. What ae his leadership skills? Do other players like him.......how does he fit in? My opinion is and has been more accurate since I don't base it solely on what is on a stat sheet. On the other hand, you appear to be incapable of having an opinion you didn't get from a stat sheetl You wanted Gurriel benched and complained abut the Maldonado trade and didn't want him on the playoff roster. After you post that stupid shit, don't question the opinions of anyone.

I truly wish you really did use stats the way you claim because then maybe you wouldn't flip flop around and you'd have some consistency in your judgements on players. Maybe next year!
