Thanks for all the good advice. Just wanted to let you all know that we opted for a 7-day Alaska cruise. We are going to fly into Seattle 3 days in advance of our cruise departure, rent a car and check out the city and surrounding area...may drive over to Vancouver. We got a balcony room on the 9th deck, starboard side, slightly forward of mid-ship..:., away from the elevators, anchor and engine. Will wait to book any excursions until we are on the ship and will book them from the cruise line. If any of you have anymore advice, I would appreciate it. Best cruise you'll do. When is it? Earlier in the year better chance of seeing the northern lights. Later in the year more wildlife. |

Get a good camera with a high capacity sd card and an extra battery. Try everything you can, even things that may seem like something you wouldn’t enjoy. We took a helicopter out to a glacier, landed on the glacier, and spent 45 minutes walking around. I did it despite my horrible fear of heights, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done on vacation. I’m very happy I did it...experience of a lifetime. Here is my lovely bride walking on the ancient glacier.  |

We embarked on May 5, I think, and the weather was beautiful. Evenings in AK were 45-50 degrees. Days were55-60, with no rain for the entire 9 day cruise. |

I love cruises. They are the most relaxing vacations we have ever taken. We're going on a 14 day Hawaiian cruise this coming December. Only 186 days until we depart.
