Speaking of losing players now on MLB Network talking about how great Josh Hader is. Talk about insult to injury.

Just think it could be the Stros that said Hader was a steal from the Birds.

The front office’s love affair with Marisnick also held Laureano down. While he doesn’t have the same level of power or isn’t as graceful on defense, I think that Laureano is superior in every other way. Both his arm and throwing accuracy are vastly superior. He’s a better baserunner, is faster, and has a higher chance of successful stolen bases. I think people spend too much time worrying about Marisnick. He's not going to make or break this team, and he'll be gone next year because they won't want to pay him the $4-6 million he'd be due to make. I’ve stood behind Marisnick in the past until I came to the realization that what he brings to the table is overstated by the team. If a castoff like Laureano is more impressive (I know he’s not Lofton in his prime), then it leads me to believe that there was some faulty personnel evaluation regarding our backup CF.

Eh, faulty seems strong. You win some and you lose some with prospects. Laureano has played in a combined 61 games so far. I'll agree, as always, that Jake shouldn't be starting more than one game a week at best, but I think he is just the weak link on the great team that people feel the need to hate on because there always has to be at least one player to hate on. Harris and Devo have been good, so now the focus is on Jake.

Where those two other players have proved they have had longer periods of consistency.

At the least, there should’ve been a legitimate competition for the backup OF spot. From what I’ve seen, I don’t know why Jake deserves a spot that much more than Straw.

Y'all keep forgetting that we should be wanting Straw to get consistent playing time given our current roster. If Brantley or Reddick or Springer get hurt, then Straw should be here.
I don't want him sitting on the bench on the major league team when I think he has a good chance to be an everyday player.

Hader reminds me of Lidge when he first burst onto the scene. He is actually better.

Santana looks like he is going to be a late bloomer. When the Phillies signed him out of the DR, he started playing in the NY Penn League, which is usually for first year drafted players.
