great job by the pen......clutch hits when needed. Chirinos was a good signing, He already shows more life than McCann did last season.

The Yankees hit the ball hard in the ninth but everything was right at an Astro. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good, all the time it is better to be lucky and good.

Two strange wins in a row. That's the kind of mojo you need on your side when you're not playing your best. Last 2 games had a 2017-like feel to them. Team found a way to win when not having their best day.

Those who say Jake can't play show how little they know about the game.......one of the best defensive outfielders in the game. He is not a good hitter, but, I'll take him on the roster ahead of Stassi all day long. Lmao...it’s like the Bat Signal to you, Grandpa Marisnick. every time you bash Jake, you show how iittle you know. He is more valuable than Stassi, White, or Kemp.

Corch, A vast majority of people here don't like Jake because he is a 1 tool player (defense). There is nothing about his offense that is a plus. The Astros have Straw in the minors, who looks to be just as good covering ground in the OF and has a better arm... Straw, offense wise, has shown he can get on base and move himself into scoring position. Straw has elite speed. Despite Jake being a good guy/gets along with the other players; the Astros have a younger, better, cheaper replacement that is currently being blocked by him. As much you love Jake in the OF, you shouldn't overlook how much you hate him at the plate.

The 4 or 5 fancy catches that wanker makes in a season isn't anywhere close to being worth his cost in money and cost in playing time for better players. And don't come CLOSE to being enough to mitigate his complete lack of hitting skill and complete lack of baserunning skill.

If we're complaining about our roleplayers, things are pretty good.

If we're complaining about our roleplayers, things are pretty good. We are not discussing a roleplayer, as Corch's grandson Joke doesn't play a role. (Unless you count striking out everytime he's AB with runners on base as a role)

(Unless you count striking out everytime he's AB with runners on base as a role) best outfielder on the team..........much better than Kemp defensively. Tell me what White and Stassi have contributed? Stassi should be released and White sent to Round Rock.

Not sure why we're comparing the usefulness of roleplayers who all play different roles...

I think Kemp has more utility given he can play 2B and makes better contact, but if we're talking pure OF value Marisnick is definitely a top OFer defensively. It doesn't need to be a comparison. Both add value to the team when used properly.

However, there is some merit in saying that Straw could come up and do what Marisnick is doing at a cheaper price.

Absolutely, but I think Straw needs more consistent playing time than he would get in Marisnick's current role. When Marisnick is no longer worth his salary (if he isn't already) next year, Straw should be up here full-time and starting 2-3 games a week at least.

We're talking about your grandson, who leaves 9/10 batters on base.

When you add the word "million" to his salary, it's pure robbery.

Which, apparently, they value pretty highly right now. Straw will get his chance as soon as there is an injury to the OF most likely.
