That’s now a major league record 39 straight scoreless games for our team fireman. What an excellent find by Jeff Luhnow.

Pressly is having a great year and Luhnow extended him before the season started. Jeff ain't nobody's fool. Think about how much he would be worth after this year even if he does fall off a bit.

I think George is showing he needs to be extended and go get Cole and Correa under a multi-year deal.

If only we had extended Springer before the season started... He's becoming more expensive by the game.

Add that to Altuve, Verlander, and Bregman and how much does that add up to. Some tough choices have to be made.

No, to the team that drafted him. I hope the Astros extend him, but the team that most worries me if he makes FA is Boston.

Luhnow needs to get Springer extended ASAP.......Cole will require some work Any of Springer, Cole or Correa are going to dictate a ton of money....I think we should treat as a victory if the Astros are to able to extend/re-sign even just one of them, because a ton of teams will be interested.

Thus seemly with the talent walking lackadaisical thru Houston on his next stop in the Big Lights

Cole will be 29 in his FA year (2020), so that will work for him and against the Astros. Springer will be 31 in his FA year (2021), so that works against him and for the Astros. Correa will be 27 in his FA tear (2022), so that definitely work for him and against the Astros. Springer honestly looks like the most likely of the three to extend and that will cover one arbitration year. Perhaps he could be extended for 4 years @ $25M per. ($20M-Arb year, $25M,$25M, $30M). Perhaps not.
The big contracts from last season aren't working out very well at this point in time. Harper? Machado? One a definite fail and one OK. but not worth the price. The owners may finally learn their lesson about paying outrageous sums to a single player on a 25 man team. It looked like it was happening last year until they yielded to the fan pressure.
Neither of the highest paid FAs from the off season are even the best on their respective teams. Machado's OPS+ of 121 would make him the Astros 8th best position player BEHIND Reddick.
Correa at least has two arbitration years that can be covered as well so I would say he's second most likely.
ps I just moticed this was the Pressly Appreciation thread, so I'll copy it to the approriate thread and this can be deleted.

I don't think we manage to keep Cole OR Springer, to be honest. I think Springer wants to play closer to the NE. Cole will go after that cash.

I am pretty sure the choice will come down to either Springer or Correa. I also am pretty sure the Astros will decide on Springer as we will not be able to afford Correa.
