This team can't do anything right today.

Astros right now have way too many Outs in the lineup. Yes you get the occasional hit and walk. Generally you have at least 4 almost Automatic outs in the lineup daily!

Chirinos is 2 for his last 20 and those two hits were in one game.

That was ball 4 to Brantley. This is almost unwatchable.

Astros last hit was Bregman’s double with no outs in the 3rd.

I see Hinch threw that hat into the loss Ring and let Rondon pitch the ninth as he gives up another run.

Memo to AJ: Yuli is not a 2b. With all the "preparation" they talked about, Hinch should know that. Problem is that without Jose or Diaz, we have no second baseman other than kemp who is spotty at best.

Chirinos is 2 for his last 20 and those two hits were in one game. Hopefully, Stubbs can give Chirinos some rest. He is over-worked because Stassi is so pathetic.

Horrible is all I can think of to describe this game.
Bring up another middle infielder. Playing with no bench won't cut it.

If it were up to me I would get rid of White and Kemp and replace them with Tucker and Mayfield to help in the infield.

I'm guessing De Goti or Mayfield get the call up? Neither of them are on the 40-man yet so it's kind of a mess. But calling up AJ Reed, who is already on the 40-man, doesn't look like it would solve anything.

White is in his homestretch as an Astro if he doesn't do something very impressive very soon. I think so too, he has perhaps 50 more PA's to show he can still hit for at least the league average. All the injuries will help him get more playing time than he would otherwise have. His best case scenario is to go on a tear between now and July so that he has a shot to get packaged in a trade to some team that believes he could start at 1B. He has hit .276 in games where he started as a 1B this year so there is some reason to believe it could work out for him that way. I get the impression that when he isn't playing the field, his mind just wanders in the dugout and he can't get focused by the time he steps in the box.

looks like Springer returns around late July. i wonder if this creates any openings for Myles Straw in the lineup. nice pinch runner to have on the bench but what this offense really needs is hitting... hard to keep winning at a good clip if you can't score more than 4 runs in a game.

He needs zero more plate appearances to convince me he can’t hit MLB pitching.

If he is out til July that sucks bad. He was hot as a pistol so far this year. Now who knows what he will do when he comes back that much time off and it will feel like a whole new year for him when he steps back into the box. This is a big problem because the only right hand bat that we have for the outfield is Marisnick. Major blow.

I just read an article over at the Athletic that detailed how bringing up Alvarez or Tucker before June 15th basically would potentially cost the Astros over 20 million dollars over time. So whoever gets the call to replace Springer will not be named Alvarez or Tucker if you base your decision on money.

If so...bye bye MVP not official, but some people who claim to understand more or less what a 'grade two tear of the hamstring' entails claimed it would be about 6 weeks of no baseball followed by a couple weeks rehab assignment at AA or AAA. Maybe Doc Talshill could tell us from a medical perspective what a grade two injury would invovle.

At least the Astros can replace one CF'er who is hitting well with another CF'er who is hitting well. During the off season, I'd not have bet on Marisnick being this hot at the plate. The baseball gods giveth and the baseball gods taketh away.
