Well, they fought well. I just wish they tried some smallball when the homers weren’t happening. Jake did a great job with the steal.

Our AAA lineup shot blanks tonight. Lack of offensive punch is obvious. Bregman gets nothing to hit because there is nobody in the lineup to protect him so he gets nothing to hit. DP's killed our chances tonight.

I also think Straw would’ve taken 3rd on Hader if he were safe. That would’ve changed things completely.

Walks are nice but I’d like to see more aggressiveness from Bregman. They pitched around him all series. Even Berkman in the booth went on and on about it.

I know but not every pitch was a ball out of the zone. I actually didn’t have a problem with him swinging away with Marisnick at second base. Sometimes, they’re really relying on him to make it happen.

I saw part of the game because it was national on ESPN. Hard to watch though. Their announcers are lame.

There is "being more aggressive" and there is swinging at pitches that aren't good hitter's pitches just to avoid a walk. I'd rather him take his base than just swing at undesirable pitches to avoid a walk. It's not like he is going up there and taking two good strikes every AB a la Votto.

Agreed. And the lack of Correa's power threat behind Bregman and Brantley is having an effect. Pitchers aren't worried about a Yuli single if one of those guys gets on base.

They did mention the 4 pitchers in Astros history with the lowest ERAs are Clemens, Verlander, Joe Sambito and Will Harris. At times it's like pulling teeth to get the ATTSW crew to come up with historical nuggets like that

I'd be annoyed if it seemed he was trying to walk, but his approach is obviously about waiting for the right pitch. If it comes early in the count, he normally goes for it. If it doesn't, he's not going to swing at a borderline pitch when he's ahead in the count. That's what the pitcher wants him to do.

At times it's like pulling teeth to get the ATTSW crew to come up with historical nuggets like that As far as historical nuggets they were showing strikeout totals for Verlander (at #20 all-time) compared with Mike Mussina at #21 and my all-time favorite Tigers pitcher, Mickey Lolich, at #19. Of course at the top of the list in no-one-will-ever-top-this territory was Nolan Ryan. But the babbling between the announcers was pathetic. It's like they took a bunch of guys who never called a game before and stuck a mic in front of them.
