You would think they would want Straw in scoring position. All eggs in the Yordan basket. That was dumb coaching....you are down one run and you got one of the fastest guys in the majors at 1B, zero outs....and you don't give him the green light not through the next 3 ABs? |

Just plain dumb for Straw not to steal. it is as dumb as keeping White in the lineup.You are down a run in the 9th and the fastest player in the organization and one of the fastest in baseball draws leadoff walk and never moves off first bsse.It was one of the dumbest moves I"ve seen in a long time. I am yelling GO at the TV and Straw stays.......that crap is on Hinch. Just stupid.  If Bregman doesn't lead the league in popups he's close. |

On a team with relatively no speed, you’re down one with your fastest guy (maybe faster than Trout) on first base with no outs. Two pitches later, there are two outs and Straw’s still at first base. Exactly what was the plan there, hope for homers? As annoying as it was for Pettis to hold Bregman at third base the previous inning, the 9th inning was worse. This team could smallball you to death if it wanted, but it chooses not to do so. |

Bregman is hopeless. At least let Straw steal a base. I am still upset.....no one likes losing, but last night goes beyond losing....just f'ing stupid... |

Yeah, for some reason yesterday’s game was way worse to me than the blowout on Sunday or the loss to the Brewers. You can’t keep sitting back and hoping for a homer. I just think it’s a lazy strategy just like the overshifts teams use on defense. Force the action with your fastest guy. I’m also not a fan of putting too much on a rookie like Álvarez like they did with James during the last postseason. |
