And Tyler White has played basically, 1.5 seasons. In which he has been an above-average (although not amazing) hitter for about $2 million. Meanwhile, in the same amount of years (4) Gurriel has been almost identical from a percentage standpoint. (.754 OPS compared to .757, with both having a 106 OPS+) Yet, he has been paid $39 million. But people want to complain about White for some reason... Maybe if he had pineapple hair instead of a beard? I don't know.... The problem with this type of defense of White is that you're suggesting there is this huge fanbase out there crowning Yuli the King of Baseball or something. I don't know a single person who thinks Yuli is worth his money...but whether he is or not, it doesn't have any effect on whether White sucks. My point is that one gets endless criticism and the other...virtually nothing. In fact he's a fan favorite with a ton of people.

The real point is, Yuli is a utilityman who plays several positions (poorly), can't hit, and is overpaid, while White is a horrible 1B/DH who can't hit, doesn't cost much but can only cover one position (if that) on defense.
White's criticism is justified, although some take it to extreme. If you think Yuli doesn't get enough criticism, you're free to go there. I don't think you'll get a lot of backlash.

However, he has had championship contributions. White and Marisnick have not. Maybe that’s it. Who knows? Either way, it’s false that you assume we think Yuli is earning that money.

I didn't say people here think that Yuli is necessarily earning his money, but it's true that one gets ripped every game while the other, hardly anything until recently.

Was Yuli on the bubble to have a starting job and then displayed his effort to remain in the majors by ballooning to a morbidly obese figure all while having free access to world class fitness facilities and nutritionists?
