time for the rest of the bullpen to establish themselves before the playoffs...hopefully with the time off Pressly can be fresh for the playoffs.

Scoping his knee? Did anyone happen to notice any recent plays off the mound where he could have hurt his knee?

Scoping his knee? Did anyone happen to notice any recent plays off the mound where he could have hurt his knee? On those player profile clips with Julia, Pressly talks about the knee injury he had in high school football. Sometimes these injuries come back to bite later in life.

I saw nothing to indicate a problem. In fact,he looked close to his old self. If this is a move just to get him rest,. I question the timing.

And now with Correa out for a stint we get to see Toro up (no more Jack Mayfield) Toro has 16 HRs and 80 RBIs in the minors this year batting over .320

I meant that I saw no signs of a problem the last time Pressly pitched. Since he is having surgery, we probably brought him back too soon.

It sounds like it was something that wasn't going to be completely right without surgery. So rather than pray and babysit him, they decided to fix it now and get him back healthy for at least the back half of the postseason (if not all of it).

So assuming they keep 12 pitchers for the postseason, we could be looking at this if Pressley isn't available:
Verlander Cole Greinke Miley Peacock Osuna Harris Biagini Smith James Rondon Devenski
You could swap Devo out for Pressly if/when he is healthy.
On paper, that's a very good looking staff if they can get/stay healthy.

From a pitching metrics perspective, Sanchez is considerably worse than Rondon and Devo at basically everything. FIP, ERA, WHIP, ERA+... He has been better with us than with Toronto, but still mostly worse than the other two. Maybe if he gets healthy he can turn things around, but I wouldn't count on much improvement this year.

I forgot about McHugh. He could replace Devo or Rondon.

I'm not convinced he'll be healthy. What have you seen from Rondon or Devenski to make you think they are better than Sanchez? If healthy, he has the velocity and the breaking ball to help out of the pen.......the other two are proven disasters waiting to happen.

His velocity and such aren't really any better than Devenski's, and his result on the year are terrible. Like really terrible. Devo and Rondon haven't been good, but they haven't been really terrible either. Maybe if he returns healthy they can get some relief appearances out of him and see, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Just read a tweet from McTaggart say the MRI on Correa's back showed no structural damage. Doesn't believe it's a serious issue. That's good news.

Yes and we needed some good news after hearing about Pressly. Now, we need to hope that Correa does what he needs to do to get back and that means NO MASSAGES.
