the umpire is calling a good game tonight. Strikes are strikes and balls are balls. I only noticed two incorrect calls and the second looked to be a makeup call.

Need more umps like that. Not these umps nowadays who make up their own strike zone and make the game about them.

Like I mentioned before the Jays have always liked that latin American flavor, could have been looking at his chances for playing time quicker to the bigs. You know I never thought of that angle before. Perhaps Yuli told him to go somewhere else as the Astros were loaded. Could be I guess. Even though he plays multiple positions like Yuli, he was playing second base, I guess that says it all.

The guys on tv were hawking the dollar dog night next Tuesday. Can you imagine that getting filled up on three bucks. Kind of hard to do at a corner store much less a ball park. Them dogs must be made of chicken or something.

Jake can't get a break, even on a foul ball.

Reddick might have hit that third strike to Fisher in the seats.

After today’s outing, Keuchel’s ERA is 3.1. Higher than the combined ERA of Verlander, Cole and Morton.
That is a lethal rotation.

Hopefully it is only the cold weather affecting Peacock.

Agreed, Peacock wasn't sharp this outing or his last.

Sad to hear about Farquhar, the pitcher who gave up that dinger to Correa last night. Brain hemorrhage is no joke. That is sad news, my sister in laws brother went through that, to regain your motor skills if you are fortunate the odds are bad. When Farquhar went through the waivers system a couple months ago, I half wondered if the Astros wouldn't pick him up. This is horrible news. I hope the players' union has good insurance and he gets the best care possible.

You could take Cole, Morton, Verlander and Keuchel combined ERA...and McCullers' only would be beating them by 0.41.... Or you could take the combined ERAs of (Cole+Morton+Verlander) * 2 = 5.56 and it would be 0.01 less than Crawford Boxes' Cy Young, 5.57.

Now the drama is letting the guys in the pen finish this game. To my eye, the bullpen this year has been a little shaky. But when I checked the numbers, it was a pleasant surprise to see the bullpen ERA at 2.89, which is third in the AL behind the Indians and Blue Jays. After the past two games, it will be even lower.

What was the record number of runs in a series that the team set last season? without checking, probably that drubbing of the Twins in late May.

I guess just like a heart attack, he was fortunate just like Farquhar to get medical attention quick. It was a long recovery, just to get back his speech, his motor skills got to the point that he could normally walk. But like he told me it is always on his mind.
