Yanks trailed Oakland 4-0 in the 8th and walk off 5-4. And that's why Oakland can't have nice things... like the division

Saying Verlander was dominant ks an understatement.....what a clutch home run from the rookie, Toro.

Making it even sweeter is that we won it off of the idiot Giles. Well; of course, it was not a “save” situation so...

So, this may be the deciding factor on the Cy Young then JV said post-game that he intended to give Toro something special for providing the runs. JV has a $200,000 award in his contract for winning the CY. Maybe he will share some of that extra loot with the kid.

Not a doubt......the left fielder turned and watched it go. The ball went out so fast that Giles didn't even have a chance to punch himself

I give my dad credit for the win. He was complaining about Toro Corch-style when the game started.

You do realize he's hitting ,302 and that's pretty good considering he started the season coming off an injury hitting like in the .230s or .240s... Where Jake had Ted William type numbers early in, and and now those numbers have plummeted 2 below .240...and OBP below .300 (has to be worst OBP on the team)

I know it is not going to happen, but I really wish Luhnow would make Nick Tanielu one of his September call ups and give him a look before we give the guy away. He is another guy who I believe could help the team post-Carlos Lowrie. Luhnow thought enough of Tanielu to send him to the Arizona Fall League in 2016 and he finished 4th in batting average in AFL that year at .353. He blew out a knee in the 2016-2017 offseason and lost the entire 2017 season due to the injury. He batted .353 in ST this year with 5 home runs and only 5 Ks in 51 at-bats. Much was said on the board about fearing that White would be another JD, if we let him go. I never thought that. I do believe there is a good chance we will regret it if we don’t give Tanielu a chance in much the same way that we regret tossing JD out the door for nothing in return. I feel strongly about this in the same way that I felt that Hader would be the player we most regretted trading away for Gump and Tattoo.

My main point is that he could be much better if he exercised some patience at the plate and showed that he isn't as dumb as he looks swinging at everything he sees. I don't know why pitchers ever throw him a strike until they are behind in the count. He did more to cost us Saturday's game with his lack of patience than anyone else.

Giving Tanielu and Toro good looks is the smart thing to do and hope one of them can prove to be a replacement for Correa. He won't re-sign with us anyway so get him healthy and trade him and nis "issues" before he can walk.

JV is already in some select company with 3 no-hitters. Next up Sandy Koufax with 4. I don’t see any reason why he can’t do it again.

Toro's home run was clutch to give Verlander the shot at the no-hitter. The fact that he hit it off Giles makes it sweeter.
