The writer must not have seen many games this season. Altuve has played nowhere close to how he played in 2017 when he won the MVP. Some people have a tendency to evaluate players based on past performaces while ignoring the present. Altuve is weaker on defense and makes more glaring mental mistakes which a lot of people also ignore.

Which is at the top of the league.

Edited to add "stupid" Interesting that I am "stupid" because I point out flaws of the hero of most people here. Altuve is a great player but NOT MVP material this season. He has not been the player he was in 2017. The "stuipid" ones are those who refuse to ignore the obvious because it deflates their opinions of their hero. As I said before we increased our lead in the division while Altuve and Candy Ass were on the IL......that is a fact.

The article said he has been playing "like an MVP since he came back this year", and his numbers reflect it whether you like it or not. Also 3 of our top-4 months from a winning percentage standpoint were with Altuve so it's not like he isn't helping the team win. Since coming back from the IL:.329/.374/.589 (.963 OPS) 19 HR 104 Hits 65 Runs 46 RBI 5 SB If he had done that all season he'd be looking at these totals:38 HR 208 Hits 120 Runs 92 RBI 10 SB .329/.374./.589 And that IS an MVP-caliber line. Which is the only point they're making. His production since the injury issues has been top-level. It doesn't mean he is an MVP candidate for the year; it just means he has been playing at that level since he came back.

If he put up the numbers you projected he would have if he had played all season, I would be promoting him for MVP in spite of his many brain cramps. I have never said he isn't a great player and I like the guy, I just don't understand why he can't see adjustments he needs to make at the plate to avoid getting bimself out by swinging at bad pitches and not using the whole field.

I have tried to remain respectful of you in spite of the fact you played the race card when that was all you had to try and justify your defense of Correa and now you call me a 'dumbass". Lelt me remind you that not all dumbasses are male. Yes, I saw AJ's interview on mlb awhile ago and heard him say that Candy Ass would be in the lineup and batting 7th tonight. I hope he goes back to producing as he was before his latest "issue" and helps us win a WS. A good performance will also aid Luhnow in getting more for him in a deal when he trades him this winter. Hopeflully, little Carlos and hoochie mama are in another city when he takes his annual vacations next season. Many Astros fans are sick of both of them. Maybe hoochie mama will be in the stands tonight squealng for her little puppet.

Well we're just going around in circles now. I'm sure every hitter would love to hit like Ted Williams, but it's just not that easy. They develop an approach that has given them the most success and they go from there. If it was easy to change that approach, everybody would hit like Ted Williams. We'll just have to settle for Altuve being more like a Kirby Puckett (although hopefully a longer career).

When Lydia calls you something, then you know the **** has hit the fan. I have always respected women and will try to continue to do so. However, there is a limit to what i will take before I respond in kind. She started out playing the race card because that is all she had and has continued to call me name. I will try not to forget htat she is supposed to be a lady.

I joined the old board in 2008. I read it for years, but when we drafted Castro I joined. Was glad we addressed our lack of catching talent.
